DO you think the goverment should mandate companys to offer paid maternity leave for women? Some company's do, but not very many, I know the company I work for offers maternity leave but it is unpaid and it is hard on the new mom and family to not work. But who would foot the bill? The company or the goverment which would be a new tax for us? And I know it is hard to find safe and affordable daycare now adays also and being a stay at home parent for many isn't an option. and how long do you think the Leave should be for if it is paid?

I've seen shows where doctors have made parents choose the gender of the child because the penis or vagina was over- or underdevelop instead of going by the gender of the blood test. Is this what happens when some people "feel" they were born the wrong sex?

Greetings,

Some mummy friends and I are brainstorming ideas to begin some Christmas traditions with 1 year olds. Something(s) that will be do-able each year (anything too complicated/time/labor intensive will just wind up being stressful someday). . . .we would love to hear any ideas from your childhood/your lives now/ideas for the future. . .

We've already considered the traditional ideas...a new Christmas ornament every year, reading a special story, baking cookinge, deocorating ginger bread houses, picture taking, caroling, etc.

Seeking your unique take or something altogether different, fun and memorable.

Tx-in-advance....Happy Holidays!

my boyfriend/fiance (he's 17, almost 18) & i have been together for 10 months, we're completely in love & are in the process of trying to move out of our parents homes & live together & hopefully get married sometime soon. we both decided we wanted to have a baby & have been trying for the past 3 months. well last week we started talking about it again & he decides to tell me that he doesn't think it would be a good idea to do it right now, even though he would love to have a baby with me. although i agree with him, it really broke my heart because i love children & can't wait to have my own. i cried for 2 days because i wanted it so bad & it made me so happy thinking that i would get to be a mother. i'm not naive, i know how much work having a child would be because i've always been around kids & practically helped some friends raise their kids starting when i was 8 years old, but is it weird or crazy for me to be so upset because he told me we shouldn't have a baby right now?

I have a problem , I didn't that i was pregnant till i was closer to 29wks , by the time I became aware that I was pregnant I immediatley began to look around for a doctor , I have a Medicade / Medicare Insurance Plan (Medicare covers perscriptions only) , I was turned down by every doctor or clinic that I tried to get in at . With the following exscuses :

We do not accept medicade
we do accept medicade , but can not handle your case because you have medicare.
or the most prevelant
You are too far along.

That was when i was 28 weeks , I am now 40 weeks , and am very frustrated that I continue to get run around , I am worried about my baby because Today is my due date.

I never stopped trying to find a doctor. I just keep getting refused. What should I do ?

Just going to the ER I Have been sent home for not being "Far enough along in labor" , with suggestions to get a doctor..but no doctor , even those reffering me , or i have been reffered to will take me because i to far along.

My stepdaughter had a baby last Thursday (11/9) and I was wondering if anyone had any more modern names for "grandma" since I am only 25 (I married an older man)! I don't want to be Grandma or Granny or anything like that. The baby's father is Italian and African-American, my daughter is Irish and Indian (small part). Any ideas?!?!?!?!?!!?

What did you think. What age do you think is the correct age to stop breastfeeding. I felt it was disgraceful a woman was asked to stop breastfeeding in a park by a policeman. Would he rather see the poor baby starve?

I LOST MY BABY ON 07-14-06. I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 12 WEEKS, THE BABIES SIZE WAS ABOUT 6 WEEKS AND HAD NO HEARTBEAT, I PASSED THE TISSUE ON THE 14TH OF JULY AND HAD A NORMAL PERIOD ON THE 18TH OF AUGUST. I THEN STARTED ANOTHER AROUND THE 29TH OF AUGUST. MY HUSBAND AND I TTC THAT MONTH AND I FIGURED IF I WAS COUNTING MY CYCLE FROM THE 18TH I SHOULD HAVE STARTED THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER, I NEVER STARTED SO A FEW DAYS LATER I CHECKED A HPG AND IT CAME BACK NEG, I STILL HAVENT STARTED AND I CHECKED AGAIN LAST FRIDAY (THE 9TH OF NOVEMBER) AND ALL TESTS CAME OUT POSITIVE, I CALLED MY DRS OFFICE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD MAKE ME AN APPOINTMENT BUT COULDNT ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS, I HAVE ANY APPOINTMENT IN TWO DAYS BUT I AM VERY WORRIED AND FREAKED OUT SINCE I KEEP READING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ENDED UP WITH CANCER THAT CAUSED THEIR LEVELS OF HCG TO RISE AGAIN. I KNOW THERE IS A CHANCE I AM PG AGAIN BUT I REALLY WISH I KNEW WHAT THE ODDS WERE AND IF THERE IS ANY ADVICE OR SIMILAR EXPERIENCES.
