My daughter is 2 and I would like to keep the two names. She is starting nursery and think this would be a good time to get people calling her the two names all the time. What do you think?

She is 2 and can say her name very clearly. If I ask her what her name is she says Aimee-Louise.

Aimee spelt this way is the original way. Its French. The English changed it to the non standard version of Amy.

I think it's a great name - I prefer names where you know there'll only be one in the whole class like that, and it sounds pretty and sophisticated as well. However, you may find nursery staff abbreviating to Aimee (or Aimee-Lou!) unless you're very specific about the use of both names.

My daughter is 9 today. She is Amy Louise Miranda Edgar Robinson. But all she ever gets called is Amy.

You should call you child anything you want. If she likes Aimee-Louise then keep it that way.

People always use the name they first hear a person called. I get called Simon by people unless they have heard a member of my family speak to me, at which point I get called Si.

It is up to you.

Hi Teresa,
I think it is a nice name. But I guess you are not asking this question to know if it is nice or not!
Obviously you want to know what is the best thing for Aimee-Louise. When she gets older she will choose for herself what she wants to be called. But now she really can’t (even though she likes it ).I suggest you ask as many people as possible, involve family, friends and teachers etc, and especially involve people who had experience with two unusual first names and the effect that it had on their upbringing.
Good name and good luck

It sounds good and I like it, but believe me she won't be called that all the time. Her name will end up as Aim, or Aimee. People will drop the Louise.

Aimee-Louise is a bit of a mouthful and a bit chavvy!
I am called Sarah Jane and hate it when people call me Sarah-Jane which my husband & work colleagues do quite often as they know it really pees me off.
Aimee on it's own is much nicer.

Sure it is cute. Some of these other people are talking about teasing, but when she is older she can decide if she wants to just be called Aimee.

Sorry, I'm not keen. I like 'Aimee' and I like 'Louise' separately but not together. I think it sounds pretentious. But that's my opinion-We've all got different tastes and you may not like the names I choose for my children so go with what you like, not us!

I think it is a cute name, but (my personal opinion) when I hear two names like that all I can think about is getting in trouble when I was a kid. My mom never called me both names unless I was in trouble and when I heard them together I KNEW it wasn't good!!! I think it's totally up to you. It is a cute name, and it might get shortened eventually, but why not use it while you can!!!!
