Well it really depends on the 2 of you, when she feels most comfortable. there are people that have sex as soon as they get out of the hospital. Sounds like something you'll have to talk to your wife about. It is true though,,, drs suggest six weeks, after she is healed and done bleeding.

Is your wife wondering about this information...or is this your question??? Don't make your wife feel pressured into having sex too soon!!! Since I am currently pregnant, I have received lots of informative books. All of the books mention waiting about 6 weeks for the new mommy to feel the best. Although they say that as soon as 4 weeks is fine as long as the new mommy feels up to it. It is really a personal choice and if she is still receiving her regular checkups there should be no problem. But remember there is still an increased risk of a second pregnancy, so make sure to take all precautions.

LOL. We can see what's on your mind.
Wait until after your wife's 6 week Post-partum check-up. That's when the doc will check her out, make sure her stitches have healed, and there is no sign of infection anywhere, and that everything is how it should be.
The doc will give you the Green light.
But don't go home and jump on her.....give her some time. She may be a bit nervous because she has gone through a LOT 'down there'. So be sensative to her needs. She may or may not be as eager to get the mojo goin'.
Congrats on the BABY!

Drs suggest 6 week so she can be fully healed down there. Can't you find other things to do for 6 weeks - like bond with your baby and wife? good golly

Generally most doctors say 6 weeks if she had a normal vaginal birth. Depending if she has episiotomy stitches, maybe a little longer. Congratulations!

it depends on if she had C-section or vaginal but it should be AT LEAST 4 weeks. I had sex at 3 1/2 and i felt like i was loosing my virginity again.. and it wasnt fun!! It felt like he was ripping me open, same with when i was giving oral... that hurt too... but 4-6 weeks should be about right.
