I LOST MY BABY ON 07-14-06. I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 12 WEEKS, THE BABIES SIZE WAS ABOUT 6 WEEKS AND HAD NO HEARTBEAT, I PASSED THE TISSUE ON THE 14TH OF JULY AND HAD A NORMAL PERIOD ON THE 18TH OF AUGUST. I THEN STARTED ANOTHER AROUND THE 29TH OF AUGUST. MY HUSBAND AND I TTC THAT MONTH AND I FIGURED IF I WAS COUNTING MY CYCLE FROM THE 18TH I SHOULD HAVE STARTED THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER, I NEVER STARTED SO A FEW DAYS LATER I CHECKED A HPG AND IT CAME BACK NEG, I STILL HAVENT STARTED AND I CHECKED AGAIN LAST FRIDAY (THE 9TH OF NOVEMBER) AND ALL TESTS CAME OUT POSITIVE, I CALLED MY DRS OFFICE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD MAKE ME AN APPOINTMENT BUT COULDNT ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS, I HAVE ANY APPOINTMENT IN TWO DAYS BUT I AM VERY WORRIED AND FREAKED OUT SINCE I KEEP READING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ENDED UP WITH CANCER THAT CAUSED THEIR LEVELS OF HCG TO RISE AGAIN. I KNOW THERE IS A CHANCE I AM PG AGAIN BUT I REALLY WISH I KNEW WHAT THE ODDS WERE AND IF THERE IS ANY ADVICE OR SIMILAR EXPERIENCES.

A rapid rise in HCG levels can indicate a type of cancer called gestational trophoblast disease. This is an advanced kind of what is called "molar pregnancy". Molar pregnancy is rare (about 1/1000 pregnancies), but it is highly curable, as is GTD, and most women who have it go on to have normal future pregnancies. If you had a normal, albeit too small for dates fetus, your last pregnancy was not a molar pregnancy. A molar pregnancy looks very different on ultrasound than a fetus, and tends to measure too large for dates rather than vice versa.

Now, for this current HCG rise. The odds are (by my wonderful math skillz, 999/1000) very high that you are pregnant again, and that it is not a molar pregnancy. Having a negative HPT on 18 September be followed by a positive HPT on 9th November isn't at all weird... HCG levels double every two days during early pregnancy. Especially if you ovulated later than you thought... and your cycle is probably a bit screwy post miscarriage

So don't worry (if you can). Go to your doctor and see what's the what, but the odds are that everything is going to be okay. Best of luck.

I am assuming your periods were just messed up in August...from the miscarriage. And your body was adjusting. And since you did test mid Sept and it was negative I am sure your hormone levels did finally come down and were not still elevated from the miscarriage. So--with your Aug 18 period, conception would have occured approx Sept 1. According to you, you had another period approx Aug 29. So, highly unlikely you conceived Sept 1. Now, then, with the Aug 29th period, conception had to be around Sept 12. Makes sense that the mid Sept HPT came up negative. If you did conceive mid Sept, that would make you almost 11 wks pregnant. With another positive test in the office, and your screwy dates, your Dr will probably do an ultrasound to confirm, and can tell when you conceived....and make sure everything is where it should be....and hopefully everything will be fine. And if he or she does not--definitely insist on one. You should hear the heartbeat too. Good luck!

try not to stress yourself out because if you are pregnant again then it is not good for the baby and not good for you either. either way no matter what you hear from everyone or what you read up on the internet every pregnancy and miscarriage is different there is a good chance that you could be pregnant but there is a good chance that maybe there is still some pregnancy hormone in your body but if you got a negative one day and then took another one and got a positive i am going to say that you are pregnant <> because obviously you didnt have any or not enough in your system the day you tested and got the negative but enough in your system to get a positive. i wish you the best of luck and will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers i wish you the best of luck with everything. keep us posted

I know it's possible and even commen to get a positive pregnancy test after a miscarraige. I have a friend who lost her baby at 15 weeks and 10 and 1/2 weeks ago and she still has pregnancy hormone in her blood. I would say wait and talk to your doctor and see what they say good luck!

I would say you're pregnant. The doctors office doesn't want to get your hopes up and be wrong. If your period is that late and a test came back positive then I'd say there's a darn good chance. Are you having symptoms?

when you have a miscarriage, the test does come back positive still. I would not worry too much until I go to the doc. I had a miscarriage last year and when they gave me a preg. test, it did indeed come back pos., but that is becuz your body still feels pregnant. good luck
