Newborn & Baby - July 2006

...I would like to call my first son Samson, but my surname is Newson, and Samson Newson doesn't really work. I also like the name Jacob, but don't like the name Jake. I like the name Jeremiah but not Jeremy, and I like Eziekiel but not Ziek, Zacharius but not Zach...etc

As you can see, I wuld like to use a biblical name but an uncommon one and not one that can be shortened to something less pleasent.

Any suggestions?

(Not expecting so there's no rush!!! Just interested to see what people think.)

Wanted to let everyne know that the fda is about to recall any childrens medicine with CARBINOXAMINE in it. My daughter went to the doctor Friday for allergies and the doctor perscribed her some medicing with this in it and the pharmacy (walgreens) refused to fill it. I looked it up at fda.gov and they are linking it to deaths in children under the age of 2.

Medicine my daughter had with it in it:

Pediatex
Xira-hist (doctor gave this to her when she was 3 weeks old)
Ana-hist

The fda has not pulled it yet but they are going to.

He takes a bottle of expressed milk 2 times per day while I am at work - I pump at work. We do have extra expressed milk in the freezer as backup. I was also planning to start rice cereal at 6 months, but do not know if I should wait until after he is weaned to formula.

my son is 8 months now and he's still waking up through the night. i really don't understand why??? he toss and turns through the whole night. it's soo bad that i sometimes let him sleep in his stroller just so he could get about al least an hour or two in there. (but he ends up wanting to move so i end up taking him out again.)on the bed he keeps on waking up because he moves around too much. what should i do??

I have posted a previous question so please refer to this. I just want to say that my daughter is my whole world I would never do anything to hurt her or put her in harms way. She is the only family I have and I would always put her safety and life before mine. It has been pretty upsetting reading some of the posts on here in reference to my question. I acknowledge that the hard shoulder is not the best place in the world to stop...I didn't need another 60 odd people in the world to tell me that. That is why I tried for a good 20 minutes to distract my daughter. I have never experienced her crying like that before and as time went on with me driving it just seemed to get worse. I became increasingly distressed and unfortunately I did start crying too because my daughter wouldn't stop. I would not allow my daughter to pass out if she was that upset...why would you think I would let that happen? I cannot be sure I was driving safely (continues in details)…

I just asked this question but most everyone that replied thought I was talking about formula and I DO NOT FEED MY BABY formula. Breast milk only. He started doing this a few weeks ago. It stops and comes back and no, it is not hot in my home. It stays really cool. Also, I do give him Mylicon every now and then. It seems to help temporarily. He does eat a lot. Could that be a problem. Also, he has a well baby check up in a week and a half, can't do it any sooner because I am moving. Can it wait till then?

My 5 month old son took a tumble from bed and banged the side of his head on a wooden floor. After observing him for the next few days he appears absolutely fine and healthy, and active, but the huge lump that appeared has still not gone down after 5 days. Is this normal? How long should the swelling last? Before anyone says "take him to hospital" , we live in China and I am less than happy with the standard of knowledge and care in hospitals here. Thanks in advance.

Should I do something about this? I went to the pool at my moms apartment and the lady who checks in the guests TOLD ME I COULDN'T BREASTFEED my 3 week old baby IN PUBLIC. She said I had to go to my car. I decided not to make a big deal about it so I went into the bathroom but I felt so offended by the way she came at me. That is like saying I can't eat in public, I have to go eat on the toilet! Should I say something to the owners or should I write a letter? I feel violated by what she said, like I was doing a bad thing by breastfeeding my baby. I even had a towel to cover her up. Do you have any suggestions or opinions on what I should do?
