Most of the time it's unnecessary. If your baby is very sensitive, you may want to.

They recommend it but I never did and my son was fine. I did, however, tear the tags off the clothes and just buy clothes that can be washed on warm. This way there are no fancy laundry situations and your baby is not always fussy from being itched by the tag. My son is 5 now and to this day, he hates tags on his clothes. After he wears them, I recommend washing with a mild laundry saop for babies. My son got a rash from the sheets at the hospital because they used a harsher detergent. Also, I always use a liquid fabric softener. Not only do they feel softer on your skin that those used with dryer sheets but your clothes hold up longer, too.

Definitely. Sometimes there might be a chemical or something else that could've gotten on the clothing during shipping, wharehousing, or even in the store that could transmit to your baby transdermally (through their skin) when you put on the clothing. It's rare, but why take a risk when you don't have to?
I always wash our clothes with All Free and Clear with cold/warm settings because hot will shrink everything :)

Normally, brand new clothes from the store have been washed.
Infact some brand require the vendor (who made the clothes) to wash with certain kind of washing.
But yet, it is safer for you to re-wash it since the delivery of the clothes (it might be made in other country) might takes long journey, dust might get into the packing cartons.
And you also have to remember that Baby skins are so sensitive and delicate, you have to make sure YOURSELF that it is CLEAN and SOFT to be worn for your baby
Best... *_*

Yes before I had my daughter I washed everything(clothes, scks, blankets). I used Baby All but you could also use Dreft. People say you do not but I felt better knowing that everything was clean. Good Luck with your baby.

You should wash all new clothing (baby, adult, or otherwise) before wearing them. It removes any excess dyes or dirt that are in the clothing.

ALWAYS! Baby skin is so delicate you should wash everything so the dyes don't bother their skin. It would be awful for them to have a reaction.

Yes because the dye in the fabrics can be very irritating to the babies skin

Yes, I always do just to make sure they're not itchy and stiff or there might be something on it that would irritate there skin. Always good to be safe rather than sorry.
