note: one of these mutilations (aka 'harmless, quick surgical procedures') happens every 26 seconds in the USA alone.

i am aware that this may constitute posting obscene or profane content on y1a, or something about self-harm etc. i would be disappointed if this question was removed, but at the same time i would be satisfied if it was removed for these reasons, as that is why i oppose 'circumcision'.

That's horrible. I can't believe that I had that done to my son. Like most people I didn't really think twice about it. I had done no prior research, so I didn't know how it was done, I just went on the sayings of my mother and everyone in my family. We are not Jewish so it's not done for religious reasons, quite simply it's done because it's what everyone else in the family has always done. It can be described only as brutal and barbaric to say the least. If I had taken the time to research what was going to happen to my child, never would I have went through with it. His looks ok, and we had no complications what so ever. It was healed within 5 days, but just the thought of him being strapped down and screaming like that poor child is enough to break anyones heart. It didn't just bring tears to my eyes, I flat out bawled. I'm pregnant with my second child and know without a shadow of a doubt that if this ones a boy it will not happen. I'd much rather answer his questions about why he's different from his father and brother than to know that I willingly allowed that to happen to him too. Needless to say my husband and I regret the decision whole heartedly and are hoping for a girl this time.

Tebone: Foreskin isn't "extra beneficial pores and skin," and it does not "hold close around." it is nicely-adhered to the penis, and it genuinely slides back upon erection (yet of direction, it slides back and forth throughout intercourse, offering a astounding gliding sensation which the two the guy and his spouse can savor. it is too undesirable which you're lacking out in this cushiony feeling which feels beautiful for women human beings). i think that it is great for totally pronounced, totally consenting adults to get circumcised in the event that they somewhat want to, or somewhat could desire to because of the fact of a intense scientific challenge. yet on toddlers, or infants? Hell no. youthful boys just about by no potential have scientific motives indicating a want for circumcision. Boys' foreskins can stay tight till puberty, or perhaps previous! And besides, as you have pronounced, circumcision is painful, pointless, and eliminates 1000's of nerve endings. it is only user-friendly unethical to try this to infants till it is irrefutably medically necessary.

I didn't circumcise my son & I wouldn't suggest it. If God wanted males not to have foreskin then he would not have made them with it!! We have to remember that as humans we have not always made the best choices (slavery & the thought that women were of lesser vaule then men come to mind).
It is my understanding that it you leave the penis intact that as an adult the they will have better sensation, guess there is a risk of hitting a nerve while the doc is cutting away down there.

When we found out we were having a boy I told my husband I didn't want to have him circumcised but if he REALLY REALLY wanted to he could BUT he would have to go and watch! (I have a thing about being with our babies at all times in the hospital...) My husband told me that he wishes his father hadn't done his so he wasn't going to do it to his son.

BTW - I have a friend who circumcised her son (at daddys request) and it wasn't "cut" right!

It's horrible. I'm pregnant right now and I really don't want to circumcise if we have a boy, but my husband does. I told him it was up to him since he is the one with a penis... any suggestions to change his mind?
