Newborn & Baby - June 2006

my wife recently had a baby and I decided we don't need it and we originally wanted a boy. I don't want to toss away a good baby but with another edition to our household;a black Trans Am with the WS6 package, we can't have both. Where do i take it to get it adopted and whatnot? do they pick them up or do we take to a clinic?

I have heard that breastmilk contains over 400 different components. What are these exactly?

My 11 mo. old has a phobia of some strangers and not others. She attends day care once per week for an hour and she's fine there, but whenever her physical therapist comes over (once every two weeks) or we introduce her to someone new that is my or my husband's age or older she freaks out. Any suggestions??

Hey, all, someone told me about an infant feeder, sort of like a bottle with a sort of plunger at the end that can be used to push out rice through a clogged nipple, etc. Sounds like a dream! Please tell me if any of you can find one.

Please spare me the answers that drone on about how feeding infants solids and such in a bottle can be harmful, yadda yadda yadda. I've checked it all out and I know all the risks, and benefits--yes, benefits--and I'm looking for where to find one, not why not to buy one.

Thanks!

I'm 34 weeks and having a boy and plan to have him circumcised but have several questions? Does it hurt them much or do they numb it? I read where some say dont let them use the cap.method, why? How many ways can this be done and what is the best? I want all the foreskin taken off. Can I request this? Will it bleed much after we get home and what do I do if it does? Can I lay him on his stomach. What is circumcision maintenance and what else should I know about this?

Here in about a month I am taking a 2 hour flight with my daughter who will be 13 months. I am not booking her a seat, so I can save some money. What are some tips when flying. The trip is from Houston to Denver so it isn't that long.

I understand all babies are born with a natural blue eye color, but my question is at what month of age do they change to the color they will be for the rest of their lives?

We are transitioning our 5 month old daughter from sleeping in her cradle swing to sleeping in her crib. Last night was the first night that we forced her to sleep in her crib (we didnt let her cry it out, but kept putting her back to sleep in the crib, until she finally fell asleep 5 hours after we started trying). She slept for only 6 hours last night (she usually sleeps 10 or 11), and I am sure it was because of her crib. Today, she really hasnt taken a nap, because we keep trying to put her down in the crib. My question is, we can get our daughter to sleep on us or in her carseat in the car (and she takes a few naps like this during the week), should we allow her to sleep on us during this transition period during naptime or should we keep forcing her to sleep in the crib for her naps too and if she doesnt take her nap, she doesnt take her nap? I am sure she will transition just fine over the week and we DONT want to put her down in her cradle swing no matter what. Thanks!

I took my baby boy to his monthly check up yesterday, and the ped. said he is underweight. He's 9 months old and weights 7.600 kg and his height is 74 cm, the equivalent of (if I'm not mistaken), 16.7 lbs and 29 inches. He's a very healthy boy, he hasn't gotten sick. He's very active, he eats very well, from 2-3 whole fruits a day (bananas, apples, pears, etc...), at lunch he eats meat (red meat, turkey, chicken) with vegetables, he already eats yoghurt, and an average of 24 oz of formula with 6 oz of cereal a day.

The ped. said to increase the cereal and decrease the formula. He's been on vitamins and iron supplements, the ped. said to quit those, since he eats healthy, but only needs more weight.

But I think, since I'm average weight, and his father is really thin, maybe our baby will just be a thin person, I do
don't see anything wrong with that, as long as he's healthy and active.

But, do you have any tips? Should I change doctors?

Thanks!
