Hey, all, someone told me about an infant feeder, sort of like a bottle with a sort of plunger at the end that can be used to push out rice through a clogged nipple, etc. Sounds like a dream! Please tell me if any of you can find one.

Please spare me the answers that drone on about how feeding infants solids and such in a bottle can be harmful, yadda yadda yadda. I've checked it all out and I know all the risks, and benefits--yes, benefits--and I'm looking for where to find one, not why not to buy one.

Thanks!

Thank you, Workinmamma and Jenny_Alvis.

I do feed my son with a spoon, a good majority of the time. It is terribly inconvenient to try and spoonfeed him at a restaurant, or at the movies, or anything like that because it requires your full and undivided attention. Don't get me wrong, my son does have my complete attention almost all of the time. (I'm sure you can't say 100% either, or you're just not human). This would not be a replacement of the spoon, but a happy cure for those times that I'm just to busy to sit down for 1/2 hour to play. He eats well from the spoon, and loves it. Without a little bit of rice in his diet, he's insatiably hungry. This helps tide him over between feedings. More time to cuddle in those warm towels from the dryer, right?

And sheesh, Lotusrain. I didn't plan on unplugging it in his mouth! Goodness gracious!! I hope you don't talk to your kids like that (assuming you have any). Report me if you'd like, though. Your accusations are quite unfounded.

Ok first of all they are a dream. I understand fully what you are saying about the rice cereal. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and it is so handy.. you can go and find out about the at www.sassy.com they are called nursery feeders. Unfortunally you can't order it from them. On the site there is a place to enter you zip code in and it tells you where you can buy it from . I got mine at Walgreens. I checked at Walmart, target and babies r us and none of them had them. Just make sure not to put pressure on the plunger of it because it will cause to much to come out of the nipple. My son uses both the spoon and the feeder. Good luck and I hope you like the feeder.

I saw a kind of a feeder once which was like a small net bag. You put the food in it and give it to the child to suck. I think it was meant more for snacking, though. If you have trouble finding her stuff to feed her easily in movies and restaurants, why dont you give her finger foods so that she can feed herself - hot dogs, mince patties, tuna patties, bread, etc. (if she is up to that).

I purchased mine at Wal-mart. I have seen them at Target and K-mart also. I think most major retailers carry them. Normally come in a two pack. One 2 oz and one 4 oz. I use them for cereals and baby foods before they have mastered the spoon or when I just don't have the time to sit and feed them from the spoon!

they are soon to be unavailable to the public due to being banned (thank the goddess) because they can cause a baby to choke and encourage parents to start solids too early

infant feeders are for disabled baby's that lack the ability to swallow normally and are dangerous to use on a baby that is less than six months of age.

if you are unable to feed your baby with a spoon he doesn't need to be eating solids

Hey LotusRain- Before you start bashing someone on something you dont know anything about, maybe you should see WHY she wants to feed her baby rice. My son has health problems and when he was 2 months old we gave him rice in his bottle because he wasnt gaining weight properly.
And BTW- I dont know where to get those things. I just poked a bigger hole in the nipple.

It's like a bottle...i used to put applesauce it for my kids when we'd be going out for the day, so i din't have to break out the spoon and baby food jar while traveling. Worked good for me, I bout it at WalMart.
