My 11 mo. old has a phobia of some strangers and not others. She attends day care once per week for an hour and she's fine there, but whenever her physical therapist comes over (once every two weeks) or we introduce her to someone new that is my or my husband's age or older she freaks out. Any suggestions??

I can tell you that my 15mo old little girl only acted that way around people who are, I don't want to say negative, but she felt something that wasn't right in people whatever that may be. She used to act that way around my aunt until she saw her more often. If she is around a certain person more when that person is happy or in a good mood she will feel that and eventually come to be comfortable around that person. I hope I have helped you.

My nephew has a similar problem. we have been introducing him to as many people (different people) so he can see people are every where.
Question one: Is there an older person at the daycare who might have harmed or scared your child. Strange but they are to young to tell you what the problem is but the child is reacting for some reason

question two: Have you left her and the therapist alone again be aware your child may not have stranger anxiety she maybe telling you the only way she can these people hurt her or scare her.

You can also bring her to a park, or nursing home where she can maybe meet some friendly older people or at least be exposed to seeing them and wont be as afraid. Good luck

You could always try to take her to play groups or take her out with you often this can help.

totally normal, your child will outgrow it. it usually ends somewhere about 2 years old.
