Buy a sippy Cup that has some cool characters and colors on it. Tell your child that the sippy cup is for big Girls/Boys
Once you introduce the sippy cup, don't ever show the bottle again. Even if the child cries for the bottle don't give in. It will only take a few days for this to kick in-
I weaned my children off juices and bad stuff by constantly giving them water. At first they threw the water cup and cried for juice and sugar drinks. But staying firm I continued to give water and after one week my 3 year old ask for water all the time.
Hope this helps!

My son was about 1 1/2 when I did this but it worked, I was tired of him bitting the top of the nipple off the bottle, My aunt suggested that I make him throw his bottles out and explain to him that, He's a big boy now, No more Baba's. Baba's are for babies, I tried a couple days just not goving him the bottle, but on the 3rd day. I walked him to the garbage can to say bye, bye to the Baba's and then we went to walmart where I found the cutest Elmo cup and we've been bottle free ever since. Yeah its gonna be hard but It will get done.

You don't need to rush her. My son didn't stop taking the bottle until he was almost 2. Doctors say you should take your 1 year old off the bottle, but every child is different. When we made the switch over, I gave him some cold milk in a normal cup and made him drink all of it at once. Then I just laid him in bed. He cried for a couple minutes, then fell asleep! He woke up in the middle of the night crying for his "baba" so I made him walk to the kitchen and drink some more cold milk straight from a cup. He hasn't gotten out of bed for a "baba" since. Good luck!

Weaning actually begins long before the 1 year mark. Never let a baby hold their own bottle. The bottle is yours to give and take away. Never give anything other than formula or breastmilk in a bottle. Introduce solids (cereal uaually) at 6 months of age, and gradually increase the variety of foods they eat. Also introduce a sippy cup with juice at this age and gradually introduce water, milk, and a variety of natural juices. Gradually replace formula-fed meals with baby food meals accompanied by water or juice in a sippy cup. By 9-10 months, or whenever they have enough teeth, include them in the family meal, feeding them the same food you eat at dinnertime, in small, easy to pick up portions. By 12-13 months, they should be eating what you eat along with baby food (or Gerber Graduates, same thing) at every meal. At this point, don't give them a bottle at all. Get rid of the bottles and formula. Hide them if you don't want to throw them away. Don't let the child remember they existed.

take all the bottles and put them in a garbage bag with your child with you. then walk the child to the garbage can and make them throw them away explaining that they are too old for bottles. It will be a hard couple of weeks but it can be done. when it is time to drink straw or sippee cups or regular cups.
This may seem harsh but even though they are young, they do understand and the sooner you do it the better off they will be.

It's going to be very hard so brace yourself. You are going to have just throw all the bottles away one night after she goes to bed. Even the one in her crib with her. The next morning and nap time will be hard. But soon she'll forget. Get the soft top Nubey Cup to make the transition a little easier on you both.

We switched to a sippy cup at six months old. I can not stand seeing older kids walking around with a bottle in their hand. Just put the bottles away and buy a new cool sippy cup and tell your baby that the bottle fairy came when she was sleeping and had to take her bottles for a baby who needed them. So the bottle fairy said that you are a bigg girl now and you have to have a sippy cup now.

We were bad, we let ours go until 18 months for this same reason. When we did finally get the gumption up to do it, we did a clean cut. I bought a couple of character cups that he liked (he picked them out in the store) and one morning started using them. Put milk in them and that was the end of it. I threw out all the bottles so he couldn't find one anywhere.
I expected a huge fight, but got none. It's like once he realized that was how he was getting his milk, he took it and drank out of it.
Good luck, I think it's really harder on us than them. It is a huge sign we are letting go of their "babyhood".

I never weaned...I just took the bottle away when they turned a year old...I told them they were big kids now and bottles were for babies...I had them help me pack the bottles up, and then we went and bought a brand new sipper cup (their choice) for them to drink like a big kid. Never cried for the bottle again.
