At what age should i talk to my son about the birds and the bees? He is 8 years old but he's very advanced, smarter than some 12 and 13 year olds. I think he already has some ideas about sex, kids these days know alot more than they should. He has "walked" in on me and my fiance already and I'm sure he knows what was going on. He never mentioned it to me. I just want to know if I should discuss it with him or should I wait til they start the sex education in school???

I have an 8 year old son and a 5 year old daughter that are "highly spirited". It does not seem to matter how much I stick to a routine, limit evening tv, and banish sweets and caffiene. I feel like everynight is torture for me. I know they do not act this way when they are with their father (which is everyother weekend). It is like they are determined to stay awake at whatever the cost. Losing priviliges seems to have no impact on them. I end up exhausted and feel like a screaming fool and that still accomplishes nothing. I feel like it is a constant power struggle, but feel as though no matter what I threaten to take away or do, they could care less. I feel outnumbered and frustrated everynight and would love to hear an impartial suggestion. Please help and thank you!!!!

we had an old cell phone around the house and my mom gave it to my brother. this is stupid and he doesnt need a cell phone. I have talked to her and she says "who cares, If I say he can have it, then he can." also, I tried just taking it away from him and my mom made me give it back. its prepaid if that makes a difference, and I have one of my own so im not jealous or anything, I just think that he is way too young.

My daughter is fairly young (6 to be exact) and she is already having trouble in school with boys and being picked on. She used to be a very independent and self assured little girl but as she gets more and more into school I'm concerned about her. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to help rebuild her confidence before she gets to high school?

My six year old and four year old get out of bed several nights a week and raid the kitchen. I'm all out of ideas on how to handle this. Baby gates won't work, they climb like monkeys. I've taken away privileges and toys. I've taken away TV and Nintendo. I make sure they are fed and full before they go to bed and still they get up. I put a monitor in their room so I'll hear them get up, but they're so sneaky and quiet, I've yet to hear them. HELP!!! The only idea I have left is to tie cowbells to them... :)

Just found out I have to pack lunch every day for my 4 yr old daughter. I'm looking for any affordable, practicle, simple ideas for a pre-shoolers lunch? Stuff that will be easy to open, stay fresh and won't have to be heated up.

Be it sexually or physically or emotionally. How can they do it? Kids are so innocent, how could they make an adult so mad that they abuse them? Or how can an adult look at a child with sexual eyes? Does it disgust you as much as me?

He wants to be in the NFL, and at this age he's as talented as most 10yr olds would be. He plays for the city league, full contact, not flag...how soon should I actually get involved with his training for highschool football? Not being a pushy parent, this is his thing, I just want him to excell. My main role here is just to be a fan!

My daughter just started kindergarten and is usually sent home with homework. When we ask her if she has any, she'll say 'no'...but when we check her bag, she DOES. When we ask her about it, her only response is "oh, yeah I knew about that".... She does admit that she had it after we ask her about it and show it to her. Does anyone have any techniques about getting her to tell the truth? We want to help her learn to be responsible...I know she's six, but never too early to start!

Hi,
I am starting to get worried about my son who's turning 7 in the fall, for the past 6 months or so he has shown an unhealthy interest in looking at other people's genital area. He uses any oppertunity to walk in on us (myself, his dad and older brother) in the shower, getting changed, on the toilet etc and he seems to now enjoy showing off his underwear, his bottom and even his penis to us, especially his older brother (who's 9). No matter how many times I've tried to nip it in the bud, nothing is working. His older brother is disgusted by him and is now blocking his bedroom door when he gets dressed. I don't know if he's doing this as a shock factor (he does like attention) or if there's a real problem going on I should be worried about.
