Simple and concise....
buy him 2 shirts for each pair of shorts or pants. That way, he has a way of rotation things and not wearing the "same" outfits. I'd buy about 2 weeks worth of clothes, meaning 7-10 pairs of pants or shorts. Double the shirts so you can rotate outfits. Much more inexpensive and not so much wasted money when he outgrows them. They do grow fast at that age.
Good luck!!

I would buy around 6 or 7 outfits. Dont buy too many because this is a huge growing period for kids. My daughter was in kindergarten last year and wore a size 7. I thought they would still fit because summer is only 3 months long but they were all too small. I had to go buy her a size 10. She really grew over the summer. Also, my daughters school wears uniforms, which I love. Its so much easier than picking out outfits. I wouldnt reccomend the white shirts though because they all got really stained.

I have 5 children and typically buy about 2 weeks worth. Kindergarten does get messy, and I like the mix & match outfits. Otherwise your son will be going off to school in the same five outfits...week after week... & Although most kindergarten classes ask for art shirts, the first thing my son does when he has something on his hands - is to rub them on his pants.
To save money, I buy a lot of my kids clothes on ebay. I also buy them in wholesale lots, which runs a lot cheaper than buying them piece by piece.

i wouldent give it too much worry
just a couple of new pairs of pants and 2-3 new shirts. maybe a new pair of shoes. thye can wear the things they already have . You dont want to send them in anything really nice in grade school. especially kindergarten. they do a lot of painting and gluing and glitter stuff. so just jeans and a t shirt or shorts or denim skirt is what i always sent my kids in. i have seven kids and my 4th one is starting kindergarten this year. dont stress about getting a whole bunch of new clothes..they want to run around and be comfortable anyways..so just send them in their play clothes..maybe a cute outfit for the first day or for picture day. and once in a while it is fun to dress them up really cute but i wouldent do it every day. sorry if i rambled on too long and i hope this helps! Good luck and try to enjoy kindergarten while it lasts....my oldest one just graduated from high school...it goes by faster than you think!!! YIKES!!!

I had that experience last year as well. Don't go out and buy lots of new stuff. If his clothes are still in good condition, use them too, as long as there are no rips or stains, they should be good. My daughter came home every second day with stains on her clothes.I buy a few new outfits and pieces at the beginning of the year and shop throughout the year as well. Remember, there is also Christmas, Easter and a Birthday to give new clothes. Good luck!!

To begin with, buy 5 outfits.. one for each day of the week.. ideally, make them interchangable.. that creates even more to choose from..and plenty of clean underwear and socks... But it really is not a major problem. He has clothing now.. and as long as what he has is acceptable with the schools dress code, he can continue to wear his favourite things.. he will have a few new things, which will make school seem special to him.. but a month or so into school, the new will wear off and he won't care.. You will notice the new of the school year wearing off and you will resort to wearing whatever is clean. It is exciting when our children first begin school..and we want all things to be special and memorable.. but we don't have to spend a lot of money for that to be so. Everything will be just fine.. Just relax, and let him talk to you about his day at school.. and it will be a great year. Good luck to you both.

Enough for atleast two weeks. Remember he's going to be growing so you can always get more later. Layaway works great, as well as bargain stores. Some places you can find with name brands clothes that haven't even been worn for a good price. What I usually do for mine also is buy a pair of shoes that fit now and a second pair just a size larger. Then again mine usually have growth spurts so I kind of have to :)

Just get him a few basics. Plain colored t-shirts in various colors, some long sleeved and some short, a few pairs of shorts, a couple pairs of khakis and of course several pairs of jeans. Also a couple of pairs of athletic shoes and some casual shoes (1pair) in brown or black. That should be good. If he's like most kids then he'll have his favorites that he wants to wear most of the time anyway. And don't buy anything too expensive, Kindergarten can be messy.

Buy things that you can mix and match and make sure you don't spend a great deal of money because it's kindergarten..........there's finger paint, markers, dirt and all kinds of stuff. My son is in kindergarten as well and we just recently did his school shopping and I bought things you can mix and match, that way there's always variety and it keeps your kid from looking like he's wearing the same stuff day after day...

Every school year I buy my son 3 pairs of shorts (blue-jean) and about 5 shirts. From Wal-Mart. Shoes, yep, from Wal-Mart. There is absolutely no point in buying name brand clothes from the mall or expensive shopping outlets. They play hard on the playground. They come home with grass stains and mud on their clothes. Just buy a couple of outfits that match and are cute and the rest just shorts and tops you can mix-and-match. I have two boys, trust me.
