We had so much fun when the boys were little making their costumes. Being a single working mom of 3 boys we didn't have a lot of money so had to really inventive. The old standby was a hobo: Use old torn clothes, preferably too big, a rope or twine for a belt, old shoes. Buy a cheap straw cowboy had in the toy section and then run it in the dryer or give to the kids and tell them to take it outside and challenge them to make it look ratty, sit on it, walk on it, drag it behind your bike, we even ran over one with our car one time, this was my boys favorite step, then put a plastic daisy in the rim. For a beard we used Karo syrup to paint the beard and mustache on then stick coffee grounds to the syrup.

Good Luck and have fun with this project, take pictures of the whole project you will laugh for years to come.

1.) Mouse: A brown shirt, brown pants, ears and a tail, face paint use a little pink for the nose.
2.) Witch or Sorcer: A hat, a broom from the closet, and an old sheet as a cape, a black dress for a girl, black pants and a dark shirt for a guy.
3.) LadyBug: A red shirt, black pants, some black sharpie for the dots on the back of the shirt.

I made the cutest scarecrow costume for my child some years back heres what you need,

Yellow yarn
some type of hat (i used a straw hat i picked up from craft store)
suspenders or old jeans
some type of denim shirt

what to do:

cut yarn into desired lengths for hair and either sew (i did made it much sturdier) or glue (hot glue gun) the yarn ALL the way around the inside of hat (once your child puts the hat on cut the "bangs " shorter and out of the eyes)

then sew yarn all the way around the inside of the shirt sleeves (around the wrist) (it will hang over the hands) and also do this at the bottom of the pants (which you need to cut up about 2 inches above the ankles) cut a couple of different places in the pants leg and sew the yarn across on the inside (gives the appearence of them "looking" stuffed) Then day of wearing costume take a black or brown liner pencil and decorate face, my child did win costume contest with this one, its really not hard and once you get started you'll come up with some of your own ideas, the outcome is the CUTEST scarecrow you'll ever see. Good Luck!!!

use white sheets as ghosts. cut the eyes out and outline the eyes with a black marker. you can deisgn the sheet if you want or just leve it plain because everyone knows it is a ghost. kids could wera a black dress with black boots for a witch costume. use black lisptick or none at all. for the wiich's hat, use a old hat and pait it black and make a cone out of paper or other material to put on top of the hat. you may have to snip the cowboy hat in the middle to staple or glue the cone.

Spagetti and meatballs. Just wear a black or white sweatsuit, make a plate out of construction paper. Meatballs are painted styrofoam balls and spagetti is peach yarn. The sauce is red felt. You can even add a hat with some spagetti dangling and a meatball on it.
