Pregnancy & Parenting - 13 December 2006

I just want to know if any of you mothers out there go through this too. My baby is gonna be 2 months old this Friday and HATES her car rides! I have to get her in the car first thing in the morning to take her to grandmas so I can work and she is usually good until about 10 minutes into the drive then she starts crying. I put a pacifier in her mouth but she almost all the times spits it out. I make sure that she is fed well before I take her anywhere and she doesn't have a dirty diaper. I sing to her, play the radio, talk to her. Nothing soothes her. Then, when I have to get her home in the afternoon after work, (which by the way, her fussy time is everyday around 3p.m and I get off at 5p.m.) she cries all the way home. I live about 15-20 minutes from home. I feel so bad. She cries sometimes so bad, you can hear the spit in her throat gurggleing and it scares me that she is going to choke. Any advice? Similar situation happen to any of you? I feel bad but I have to work to support her

I've heard several theories on this, but they vary, and I'm not sure which of them are accurate.

im about a month away.. and everyone keeps telling me different things about wheni should go to the hospital. if my water brakes dont i do right away?... if i have contractions that are really close together but no waterbrake do i go to the hospital?...im scared i wont know when to go or go to early.. help please?

My mother in law is a great woman and I get along with her very well. I only have one problem. She continues to purchase and make dresses and costumes for her without my input. She just came over with a homemade halloween costume this summer. My daughter is 2 and she bought her Christmas dress for this year when she was 3 mths old. They were very ugly and not my taste at all. These are things a mom wants to dress her baby up in.What should I tell her with hurting her feelings?

He literally looks for things to complain about. Like if I give him a blue plate for supper and his younger brother Nathan gets a red plate, he will say, "uh, howcome Nathan gets a red plate and I only get a blue plate!!!"

I have given him 5 pieces of licorice and he of course says, "but Mom, I wanted 6 pieces." I told him, "if I gave you 6 pieces, then you would have wanted 7." He replied, "I know that."

This is not how I want to raise my child. I know he is young but I think he needs to learn to be grateful for the things we do have and the things he is already given, instead of looking for things to complain about or wanting more than what he is given.

What to do to change any of this? If I so much as ask him to start brushing his teeth before his brother, it's always, "but howcome NATHAN doesn't have to brush his teeth?" even though I plan to have Nathan start later on when he is done, it's always something like that.

I am pregnant and I have 8 weeks left and im tired of my hair being nappy, lol. It is so coarse and it won't hold moisture. i told somebody i was getting perms and they told me that the baby could get wrapped around the umbilical cord but i don't think that's true. so anyway, i just wanted to know could i get a perm today?

My child recently did something not very many children would do. She chews alot of stuff but for teething that's normal and we do discourage it and replace items with propor chew toys.
I explained to a few people about the incident and now i'm branded as a unfit mother, was told my child is retarded and autistic because she might throw a tantrum at times oh and, i need therapy with her because her head isn't right. What she did was an accident and she is perfectly fine from it after seeing doctors etc immediatly. So my question is, have your kids ever done some things that have you scratching your head and thinking what on earth possessed them to do such a thing? And why is it that when a child acts up people are very quick to stand up and say they need medication, that they have brain disfunctions. My child is so so sweet and rarely throws fits, only when she has stomach upset from an internal issue but this has just thrown me completely off at how judgmental people can be!

Last night it took me literally THREE HOURS to do my math homework! It was only sixteen problems and my math teacher, Mrs. Whitley, barely even explained it to us! My dad didn't even know how to do it. So today I go into school and I don't get credit for it! Now, I missed seven homeworks this marking period, and that is because I didn't do them and I accept that. I understand that part. But now when I try to do my homework, and work three hours on it, she gives me no credit for it because I didn't show my work correctly! I tried to not cry, but I had to. I couldn't help it. So not only did she give me no credit for working my a$$ off last night, but she made me so embarrassed for crying in front of EVERYBODY! Was that fair?

I had an ultrasound the same day as I found out that I was pregnant, because I wasn't sure how long I haven't had a period. I took 3 test and all came up positive. The lady said I must just be pregnant because she couldn't see anything other than something was thick (i forget what she called it) meaning I was pregnant just to soon to see anything. When I went to calculate how far along I thought I was, by counting from when I did remember my period, I calculated I was about 7 weeks. I know the doctor calcutates the same way I did it because I researched it before believe it. But was the ultrasound wrong?

i have primary and have had for about 10 years, the mother and daughter dont get along, the fight would pursue just to spite me, my parents live in Georgia, i am self employed as a subcontractor and my business isnt doing well, i have much better opportunities working with my father helping with his business, my daughter is 12 and tells me that she hates her mother and would like it if she never saw her again, every time that she goes there i recieve phone calls from moms husband about how my daughter wont listen to him and its turning his house upside down, so i have to threaten her with punishment knowing how bad she hates it there,and that hes picking on her, My daughter definately wants to be with me, hands down no question, but i cant get an answer from anyone, this happens everyday im sure, whats the outcome does anyone know??? a few particulars child makes good grades has insurance thru me and has resided with me for 10 yrs at same address moms moved a dozen times,no support
