You will know typically your contractions need to be 5 minutes apart before you go. Your first baby takes about 12 hours of labor. if your water breaks and the contractions don't start in about three -12 hours call your DR. or go to the hospital you may need some help.Good luck you will be fine.

you will probably have contractions before your water breaks. every woman is different and so is every pregnancy. It is highly unlikely that your water will break first but it can happen, if it does give your doctor a call and let them know what is going on. There is a risk for infection but the doctors don't usually induce labor until 6-8 hours later. Again call the doc and ask what they think you should do.Normally we wait until the contractions are consistent approximately 5 minutes apart for at least an hour or so before going into the hospital. Don't wait until the contractions are really close together before you go in you may end up having the little one on the way. Once your contractions are consistent and around 5 min apart go into the hosp whether or not your water has broken. Most times the doctor is the one who breaks the water. Never be scared to go in early. You wouldn't be the first woman to do so nor will you be the last. It is always better to be safe and feel safe than to be sorry. Good luck you, hope this helps a little.

Sometimes a womens water doesn't break. So you go to the hospital if you are having more that 5 contractions in an hour that are consistantly of get closer and closer together within an hour. Also yes if your waters break go directly to the hospital you are at risk for infection. My best friend didn't go until 6 hours after hers broke. She crazy though. She did it all without drugs or anything. Pretty much thats why she didn't have a choice becuz she waited too long. But she ripped and everything. So yeah go ahead and go to the hospital when it breaks. My mom felts slight back pains all day and my step grandma came home andasked her what was wrong and she said I dunno my back has been hurting all day and my step grandma took her to the hospital and she was in labor. My friend Jessica she just felt a little like she wasgonna be sick and had terrible heart burn and she was in labor. So if something feels out of the ordinary it could be labor you just never know. I'm sorta with you I don't know when to go to the hospital lmao. I'm just glad I got my mom to tell me. I'm about 2 months until mine. This is so scary and exciting!

First, take a deep breath in. Let it out. Relax. And don't worry. Hospitals are used to having first time moms go in multiple times before they're admitted, so it's no big deal if you do. Here's the general guidelines:

If your water breaks, call the hospital. Usually they'll have you go in immediately, but sometimes not.

If your contractions are about 1 minute long, and 5 minutes apart (timing from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next one), give the hospital a call. Usually they'll have you go in.

If anything, always call the hospital where you're planning on giving birth. Like I said, they're used to having nervous new moms asking all kinds of questions and such, so it's no big deal. But just relax, things will be fine. Enjoy the last few weeks you have to relax before your baby comes!

Oh, and trust me. You'll know when labor starts. Simply trust your body. Good luck!

If you are getting close to your due date and having contractions but your water doesn't break i would still go to the hospital just to be on the safe side. The doctor sometimes has to break the water for you. If your water breaks, get to the hospital as quick as you can. In my case my water broke and the contractions were nearly non-existant but after a couple of hours they induced labor. Either way to be on the safe side i would get to the hospital as quick as you can. You dont wanna risk having any complications or take the chance of having the baby in your car. I hope this helps!! :) Good Luck

When you start contracting, call your doctor. He/She will probably tell you to "labor at home" until the contractions are consistently about 5 min apart. If you are nervous, then start heading over there when they are CONSISTENTLY 8-10 min apart. Any sooner, and the hospital will probably send you home anyway. If you're water breaks then call your doctor, but I was told to go right away if that happens. Not that you're going to immediately have the baby then, but b/c amniotic fluid is a mess and it's better to be in the hospital when it regenerates and leaks. Remember, when in doubt go with your instinct. Hope this helps!

I had lost my mucus plug. My water had to be broken by the Dr. The one thing that was clear was that my contractions were 5 min. apart and under. I felt like I had a bad case of PMS! I didn't feel good and my body was giving me the signs. After trying to sleep and I couldn't because of the contractions started getting closer together. I went to the hospital. I was dilated to 3 and they decided to keep me because my blood pressure was high. Listen to your body, it will tell you when it's time. Even if you went to the hospital and was told to come back. Just remember that it is always safer to be sure. Good luck and may your delivery be a safe one.

Whenever you start to have signs of labor, whether its contractions or water breaking, call the hositpal. They will go through some routine questions and determine whether you should come in or not. One thing I know for certain is if your water breaks you will want to head to the hospital, although it doesn't need to be a frantic dash. Once your water breaks, and are not yet having contractions, they will want to hook you up to an IV so the baby remains in fluid.

i was the same way with my baby. she was born on the 2nd so shes pretty new. but she was my first and people were saying the contractions will hurt so bad u'll want to groan or moan w/e, I started having contractions at 4 pm and they grew stronger and stronger and i was like "well whats this? false labor?" becasue it didnt hurt, was just uncomfortable. but I knew i was in labor after a few more hours. but if ur water breaks jump to it and get to the hospital asap. the best thing i can say and im sure uve heard b4 is you WILL know. i hated when ppl told me that but u will. trust me.

Spinelli got shot by Lisa and ever since the surgery he's been acting like Jackal PI. Lucian wasn't Brenda's son. He was a decoy planted by Suzanne. Alec is Brenda's real son. Siobahn ran into a burning house that Lucky set on fire. She was in surgery for head trauma and Liz gave her the wrong medicine(totally an accident). She found out and she was pissed. Siobahn was going to to sue Liz and the hospital but Lucky changed her mind. She's still mad and thinks Liz tried to kill her to get her out of the way and get back together with Lucky.
