I had an ultrasound the same day as I found out that I was pregnant, because I wasn't sure how long I haven't had a period. I took 3 test and all came up positive. The lady said I must just be pregnant because she couldn't see anything other than something was thick (i forget what she called it) meaning I was pregnant just to soon to see anything. When I went to calculate how far along I thought I was, by counting from when I did remember my period, I calculated I was about 7 weeks. I know the doctor calcutates the same way I did it because I researched it before believe it. But was the ultrasound wrong?

I am sure the ultrasound was right... just continue to go to your doctor as scheduled and not worry about how far along you are until about 12 weeks and then you can get a better idea.

Well. I went to the doctor two weeks ago, when I was 7 weeks pregnant. She used a trans-vaginal ultrasound machine and was able to see my baby. Granted, it wasn't much to look at, but we could see the beating of the heart . Looking at it as a lay person, I would have never guess that it was a baby. I went on to say all that because we were able to see all of the normal things that you see in an ultrasound, but it just doesn't look like much of anything so early on.

If I were you, I would just wait until the next ultrasound. Then things will be more developed. However, you must remember that medicine is not an exact science. You intuitively know what is going on with your body. Don't ever be afraid to speak up and tell your doctor that your don't agree with his opinions. Be vocal for you and your baby.

It isn't how pregnant, it is either you are pregnant or you are not. You have probably been pregnant for about two months, which means the baby is often too small to view with normal ultrasound. The normal ultrasounds are older and not very detailed. You typically find these at clinics and discount places like Planned Parenthood.

In another month or two you will be able to view the baby with ultrasound. If you are concerned, request a level 2 ultrasound, which is much more detailed and offered at specialty medical facilities and probably costs a few hundred dollars.

The thickness could have been the uteris or maybe the placenta. And yes maybe the ultrasound isn't picking it up yet. See when I went fr my first they couldn't find anything from the putside so they used the probe one and then they could see my baby who was already 11 weeks its the way my babys attached. They can see everything fine now. Its strange cuz I thought it was normal fo the dr to have a probe ultrasound thing. All of them here have one. Maybe you should ask about that.

Daniel, that's why boys shouldn't put too much stock intoanswering a prgnancy question. Have you ever been pregnant? I thought not. There can be mesurements on HOW pregnant a woman is, you are pregnant,? how far along? 3 mo, 4 mo, 5 mo..... see how that works.
now lets reverse it, Your not pregnant? how long?
waite, that doesn't make sense,
So I guess it is on HOW pregnant you are.

Machines tend to get mixed up. They arent as accurate as humanity would like to believe. Your pregnancy could be developing at a slower rate, sorry to say, but if that was the case, then you probably will have a long pregnancy, some cases women can be pregnant for 10 months.
Or the developement cycles will go faster or slower than other women, every womens body, and uterus is different.

by the way, Congrats.

The ultrasound should have seen something, because my doctor was able to see something when i was 8 weeks pregnant, but at the same time, they really dont have to "see" anything, the ultrasound can pick up the heartbeat

Ultrasounds that are done for dating purposes are done about the 19th week. The fact that you had one at week 7 means that likely you were having some type of problem? Look up pregnancy calculator on google and put in the first day of your last menstrual period and it will tell you how far along you are. You will likely need a second ultrasound for dating purposes.

Lol Did you have a urine test, or maybe a blood test to show if your pregnancy test came out positive. And Radiologists normally know what they are talking about. In a few more weeks when they are able to measure the baby, they will more than likely give you another.

sometimes there is no "yolk" in the sac and it miscarries, other times it's just too small to see. at 7 weeks i would think they could see something. did they do an intravaginal ultrasound? oh ultrasounds done for dating purposes are not done in the 19th week. mine was done at 12 weeks 5 days and they said the earlier the more accurate because all babies grow at a different rate.

Ultrasounds are rarely wrong however the person analyzing the data can be wrong. You calculate pregnancy by the 1st day of your last missed period which would put you at only about 4 weeks.
