When I was 14,I had a boyfriend, age 17.So,I don't think it's something wrong. And if the boy is decent, what's the problem with his age?If you train some sport and you meet boys and men ages above 18(for example 22-23),wouldn't you talk to them?I think that stopping to talk to him will only make people think you are not an honest and kind person.

I'm assuming that by saying that she's "talking to a 17 year old boy" that it isn't just a friendly little chat. If they are just chatting and are just friends, who cares??? But...if they're starting to get all lovey-dovey and such, you might be worried. That sort of a relationship is illegal (in some places) and is not a good idea. Why would a 17 yr old want a 14 yr old...because 14 yr old girls are vulnerable. REMEMBER, you cannot force your friend to stop talking to him or to stop liking him. She can have a crush. Just strongly advise her not to take it any farther. =]

I don't think she should stop talking to him. When I was 15 I had an 18 year old boyfriend. He was almost 19. I'm now 17, and a boy in my class is dating a girl in the 8th grade. I'm not saying it's alright for him to date her, but it's alright for your friend to be friends with people older than her. I was friends with seniors in high school when I was in the 7th and 8th grade. I think as long as he's not "using" her or taking advantage of her, that it's alright for them to talk.

It's normal for younger teenagers to want to befriend older teenagers, but what you need to ask, and your friend needs to ask herself, is why a 17 year old wants to be friends with a 14 year old. I think the 17 year old boy needs to find friends - female and male - his OWN age. Would your friend want to be friends with a boy who was only 11? Probably not - so why does this 17 year old want to be friends with her?

age doesnt matter, she can talk to who ever... just as long as he isnt like, old enough to be her dad. its a three year difference... not that bad.my mom is 46... and my dad is 50..... so they have a 4 year difference. people just think it is bad for a 14 year old to talk to a 17 year old, because they are one a whole different maturity level, and whatever, whatever. by the point is.... you dont see people bullshiting about couples like my parents when they are their age now do you?.... sorry if this was confusing, i couldnt really word it any better lol. but basically, no she shouldnt stop talking to him, unless that is what she really wants to do. i dont see anything wrong with that at all.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with talking to an older boy. I myself started talking to my boyfriend whe i was 15 and he was 20. We are now married going on 9 yrs and have a 10 mo. old son. of course she shouldn't do anything with this boy untill she is married...... she is too young to be having sex with this boy and there it could be against the law...

well ill tell the truth, when i was 14 i was dating a 20 year old. my parents knew (her parents should be told too) and the only thing i should warn you about is that if this guy is one of those who is just lookign for sex. get rid of him, she could get pregnant and he will leave her probably. if they are honestly able to have a friendship and it turns to something more, i wouldnt be worried, this guy might be a more mature 17 year old than the ones ive known

Like you said they are talking. I'm 15 and I've talked to guys like that since forever but we're just friends anyway. Anyways he is not 18 and the law doesn't prohibit you for talking. It is your friends business anyway.

He's a little too old for your friend. As soon as that boy turns 18 he's breaking the law. So you should tell your friend to stop seeing him before she gets too close to him.

Well the question is how is she talking to him? If online, make her stop, he could be a paedophile (i cant spell), if they know eahc other that's fine as long as they are just friends, if they get together he is breaking the law! I hope I help! Good Luck! xx
