I don't understand the point of the war in iraq. please do not get mad because my opinion is different, but I really would like to know what good it is doing to either of our countries.
some people say the reason we're in a war with iraq is because of the 9/11 terrorist attack. okay, didn't al quadea attack us? not saddam hussein, wasn't it osama bin laden? from afghanistan? i understand that saddam hussein was a bad person and should have been gone, but if we are in a war because of terrorism, why would we fight iraq when they were not the ones who attacked us.

i'm just naming numerous things that i heard were the reasons for this war. another was because they were looking for weapons of mass destruction in iraq, but they couldn't find any. if there is no weapon, then why do we continue to fight.

another reason i heard was because we wanted to help the iraqis. okay, how exactly are we helping them? they don't have a stable military, so basically we're just killing them off? (c)

The Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee were all in high dudgeon over the issue of water board interrogation. Why won't they simply outlaw it? What are they waiting for? It could easily be passed as an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill.

Are the Oil companies taking the hit for the American consumers,

By not passing on the increased price of oil in the price of gasoline ?

Chevron profits down 15%, Exxon down 10%.

Are these all american oil companies or what ?

Helping the average american by takings loses to keep our gasoline prices affordable,

After OPEC, Venezeula, Canada and Mexico try to cheat the american consumer, by unfairly jacking up the price of oil.

When you consider…

…how beefed up our borders would be thus significantly decreasing terrorists ability to come in to the US

…how safe the borders would from the water and the air

…the focus we could put on our own protection versus that of other nations (such as missile defense, satellite technology, or whatever other defense would be needed to protect our nation)

…we would no longer be mixed up fighting the enemies of our enemies (a policy that for years has created massive conflicts of interest)

At that point, those nations that do no like us can choose not to trade with us and will suffer their own consequences economically.

Why would this not be FAR better to the policy of intervening worldwide that we have had going on for generations and has left us hated by so many?

Ok....so i'm trying to prove the statement:
'It is not true that "Everyone is as God made him, and often a great deal worse."'
In our English class, we're reading The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger. I need some references the quote makes to the novel and some references to the world.
So i'm trying to find examples of famous people such as leaders that are examples of this quote.
For example: a lot of people dislike Bush but there are some good qualities about him and offcourse some bad ones.
Can anyone help me pinpoint these good/bad qualities?
(It doesn't have to be Bush...He's just a very well known leader)

I'd appreciate your views.

I believe in the Constitution, especially Freedom of Speech and Expression as provided in the First Amendment. MANY DON'T, BUT I DO.

I'm going to get a lot of jeers, but I believe in a free nation........ .......If someone burns a flag, it is a protected right.

Why is it that the extreme anti-Bush camp (and even the casual anti-Bush camp) always make fun of the president, and go to great lengths to point out how dumb he is. Yet, when the issue of 9-11 or the Iraq War comes around all the sudden Bush is one of the greatest criminal masterminds in history. So, which is it ...? Is Bush stupid or is he a genius ...? Because you can't have both (and I think the vast majority of the American population can agree on which of the two he is ... all you have to do is listen to him talk for 30 seconds) ...

Didn't Dems swear that Cheney needed to be impeached?

A top famous Dem introduced the resolution. Republicans supported it so that Dems could tell the entire world why Cheney should be impeached. Why did Dems vote against their own resolution?

Are the Dems basically saying that Dem. Dennis Kucinich was sort of an idiot for proposing the idea of impeaching Cheney?

"In a written statement, Hoyer reiterated that Democratic leaders have decided not to proceed with impeachment and criticized Republican leaders for attempting to force a debate on the resolution."
