Hillary is trying to be everything to everyone, and that means she must be a victim to those who feel victimized and simultaneously be a conqueror to those who idolize the strong.
Hillary is trying to get the sympathy vote by playing the sex card. It won't hurt her because those who it alienates would not have voted for her to start with, and it might help her because the people such things appeal to are easily fooled.

Last I checked the other Democratic Presidential hopefuls were also giving Hillary a bad time about using her 'gender as a shield' when the going gets tough.
You really can't make it a purely Conservative vs. Liberal issue ... everyone in the political spectrum is doing it (and I think its rather warranted in most cases, because she does use it as a shield). Even hard core far-left feminist groups are coming out against Hillary for explicitly using her gender in her campaign, and that should tell you something if they're making an issue of Hillary as well.
__________
Now ... let me ask you if you'd ever see Margaret Thatcher say "you're just ganging up on me because I'm a woman!" No ... because she was a real leader who didn't use her gender as a political tool.

Hillary and Bill are eluding to her being attacked for being a woman. Hillary trumped up being a woman whose breaking into an all boys club in a speech. The only people making this about gender are the Clintons and their supporters. If gender really doesnt matter, dont mention it.
Even democrat analysts talked about how the gender card is being played inappropriately and that it wont work because all it does is scream "I'm a defenseless woman" and that WONT sell

I think everyones getting worked up about nothing.
She didn't invent the term old boys club.
She didn't even have to invoke it, because that's what it looked like.
They would all do themselves a favor and forget the slimy innuendos, the Republicans do it better. It would be more meaningful if the Democrats stuck to dissing Bush and how they plan to do it better. If Hillary should become president they shouldn't make it easy for the Republicans to make her life more difficult than they will anyway.
Besides, I don't want anymore fluff, I want substance, and a NY governors ideas about NY auto licensing doesn't do it for me. Not with healthcare, the war, diplomacy, the national debt and the monetary crisis and the economy all being national issues.
