"The White House offered an initial reaction to the Nobel win by President Bush's 2000 opponent. "Of course, we're happy that Vice President Gore and the IPCC are receiving this recognition," said deputy press secretary Tony Fratto."

So what gives yahoo answers conservatives, why aren't you joining King George and his spokesperson to congratulate Al Gore?

Let me apply the left's excuses to Al Gore to show them how rational they sound.

Al Gore really didn't win...

That panel incorrectly counted their votes.

A european court actually just gave the prize to him.

Most of the panel voted for the "other guy" but the popular vote didn't count.

Al Gore is too stupid to have won.

His daddy paid for all his phoney research.

"HE BETRAYED THIS EARTH! HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!"

Look... he won. I have no problem with that. He may believe in what he is doing and he has made a significant impact, good or bad. It is not a surprise. Europe is even more socialist than we. They have the right to award him the prize. It does loose credibility in my book since they based it on an "unproven theory"... but that is OK! Soon it will be like the academy awards... who is popular right now?

I love that he won... it is supposedly going to prevent him from running for President. I think we should give thanks!

Your thoughts?

Congratulations Liberal Americans. I mean it.

It's been a tough road for you folks since 2000 and if a bunch of European Elite Leftists want to pat your man on the back then I say GREAT!

Al Gore is a fine american. I and many others just don't buy into his Mass Hysteria on Global Warming.

Also, conservatives just don't feel a burning desire to be accepted by Euro/Canada leftist elite. I am sure they are good people but at the end of the day they support two things many of us on the right find disturbing; Appeasement Abroad and Socialism at home. No thanks!!!!

1) oh crap?
2) the son of the gun was right?
3) I want my mummy?
4) help me?
5) i am tough i 'll survive this by holding my breath?
Which one?

Dr King's message is very clear- forgiveness, bring people together, tolerance and healing wounds. Dr King's message is God's message. The reason why we have a national holiday honoring Dr King's message is because it's the right path.

The wrong path is racism, not treating others with the same respect and dignity, you expect to receive yourself.

When a black leader promotes Dr King's message, he is villified and either destroyed by the lliberal media or ignored. Look what happened to Bill Cosby when he opposed the race baiters and exploiters of minorities- Jackson and Sharpton.

Liberals base their cause on opposing racism, yet they support Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton and others who exploit the victims of racial conflict, for their personal gain of political power and money.

I guess my real question is whether there is any integrity in liberals to denounce these false leaders and BEGIN promoting Dr King's message?

pundits are now saying that this will hurt relations with the vital ally Turkey.

does this mean that the 1915 genocide should not be condemned for political gain and expedience?

perhaps if Germany complained about the bad image the holocaust has given them we should rescind our condemnation of it?

how can you justify NOT condemning acts of genocide and mass murder, just for political ends?

If you are WEALTHY like Hillary you are fine.

If you have an income of $250 - $500 K you are not a millionaire but YOU depend on your INCOME to get ahead and live the American Dream. She and the other WEALTHY Democrats will take your money to buy votes from the poor and they will CREATE two classes and the American Dream will be shattered.

Oh... But I forgot the best part... Poor Al has to SHARE it with the U.N. Global Climate Change panel!

I'm surprised. Since when is the prize awarded for PHONY science (And Al Gore's "documentary" is chock full of it. Just talk to any real climatologist) to hypocritical politicians who preach about global warming while at the same time using twenty times the amount of energy as the average American and flying around in his private jet?!

Oh, and for those of you who defend him as living a "carbon neutral lifestyle". GET OVER IT! The guy buys "carbon offsets" from a company HE helped found, and buying them does NOT change his total energy consumption or "carbon emissions".

Then again... Considering who the prize as given to in the past (Yasser Arafat and Jimmy Carter), it's become clear that it's now little more than a political joke. Next thing you know, the prize will go to... Hm.. Amadinejad? OR maybe Osama Bin Laden himself?!

Does this strike anyone else as funny?

For 400,000 years the ppm for C02 was ruffly 200 - 275 ppm with seasonal fluctuations.....before the industrial revolution of course. Now we're up to 445 ppm in within just 200 years since the start of the industrial revolution.......so how can anyone argue that this is natural ? If it was natural, wouldn't it have had to occur naturally at least once before ?
