choose to attack the award instead of feeling proud. Doesn't this but many other similar situations show THEY are the ones who put ideology before patriotism always?

A survey of the responses on this board re-affirms just how infested Yahoo Answers is by morally and intellectually bankrupted people who in their IGNORANCE IS BLISS STATE spew out incredible lies ,hypocricies and double standards .

Let's start with BRYAN who ridicules the Nobel Peace Prize by informing us that past winners included Stalin,Hitler and Mussilini .

This LYING IGNORANT poster is simply wrong .Here is the list of all Nobel Peace Prizes .

http://almaz.com/nobel/peace/alpha.html

These boards are simply full of lying dangerous posters who do not give a damn if their filthy stinking lies are spread everywhere.

Perhaps somebody should spread the rumor that these LIARS are PEDOPHILES and see if they like lies being told of them.

Next we have a ponitificating, sanctimonious poster called PFo who like many of the other posters debased / ridiculed the Nobel Peace Prize but in PFo's case he offered up the garbage that the Prize has been debased / made worthless ever since it was in part awarded to Arafat ,a known terrorists.

As any educated person knows the co-recipient of the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize was the Isreali PM M.Begin.

M . Begin in 1948 was declared to be one of the 20th century's wost terrorist by both the US and British Government after Begin as leader of the vile ZIONIST TERRORIST GROUP CALLED THE IGRUN BLEW UP THE KING DAVID HOTEL IN Jerusalem with the loss of about 100 innocents.

Begin and his terrorists killed British diplomats and slaughtered thousands of Palestinians in the 1940s.

In a word,Begin was a worst TERRORIST than was Arafat .

PFo was quite happy to debase the Nobel Peace Prize and ARAB MUSLIM Arafat with the charge of TERRORIST but deliberately neglected to vilify and demonize the JEWISH ISRAELI TERRORIST BEGIN ..

In addition to the other epithets we can JUSTIFIABLY call PFo, we can now add "VILE FRIGGIN RACIST " to the list.

Most of the other answers are sad/pathetic drivel that merely attests to why the majority of humanity dis-like/hate the US and Americans.

It increasingly seems every time an american opens their mouth ,more reason to hate them spews out.

In respect to the Peace prize and what it symbolizes in general, the war mongering Bush yesterday condemned the Congress for passing a resolution calling the Armenian disaster in Turkey a GENOCIDE because it interfered with US INTERESTS .

This filthy war mongering evil piece of crap PUTS SELF INTEREST before the declaration of GENOCIDE .He is a filthy morally bankrupt Christian fundamentalist .

Additionally we can as usual add to the justified epithets thrown at the war mongering Bush that of a monumental hypocrite for while he loudly (and in this case rightly) condemned the Sudanese slaughter in Dafur as a GENOCIDE ,he was critical of China for not doing likewise.

The US has relatively limited National Interests in the Sudan while China has a huge self-interest/national interest in Sudan and that is why the Chinese refuse to declare the Sidanese slaughter as GENOCIDE.

The lesson is that if one has SELF INTERESTS one should never endanger said interests by upsetting a genocider but if one has NO self interests one can call the genocuder everything in the book.

Stinking typical immoral monumentally hypocritical behaviors of a conservative where PROFITS always TRUMP morality and ethics !!!!

I don't see what patriotism has to do with an INTERNATIONAL award. Patriotism applies to a country in particular, not global events. Your characterization of Gore as a progressive is entirely your opinion. Personally, I consider him a regressive hypocrite. The attacks on the Nobel award were taking place long before Gore's nomination, before he was born even; it has to do with the odd selective nature of the recipients, including Yassir Arafat in more recent times, a known terrorist.

Why should we be proud that Gore has won? In my opinion, Bill Clinton has done so much more for peace than Gore, the only reason why he didn't win is because he does his work for the good of the people, not to get in the limelight and prop himself up on a pedestal.

Do you even KNOW what a 'progressive' is?
Do some research. The results may scare you. This isn't something anyone with half a brain should be identifying with.

Of course, only the dumbest of the Liberals are applying that title to themselves so... I guess it's all good.

And considering this 'award' is wholly unjustified... another fact I bet you didn't research... who did he beat out for this?
A woman who risked her life to save 2500 children from the gas chambers of the Nazis!!!

What has HE done?
Gotten rich off American ignorance to the facts. Used scare tactics to bully his political agenda into the American psyche like a religion. Lied to the American people and been so much of a hypocrite that he's made it clear that even HE does not believe carbon is causing the problem.

Here's some food for thought:
Other Nobel Prize candidates and recipients~
Adolf Hitler
Josef Stalin
Benito Mussolini
Yassir Arafat

Great company, huh?

FACTS:
1. There is NO general consensus that carbon is even the cause of the current warming trend. There is also NO hard evidence that this is the case.

2. The movie "An Inconvenient Truth" is SCIENCE FICTION. It's images depict a future based on totally unrealistic assumptions and even the scientists he quoted in it have stated that he is painting a 'worst case scenario' picture.

3. Al Gore is making a fortune off 'carbon offsets'. He tries to look environmentally conscious by purchasing them too... but he is buying them from himself.

Al Gore is an embarrassment to the American people and the woman he beat to get this 'award' was, quite frankly, dishonoured by this travesty of justice.

Conservatives always put ideology before patriotism. They don’t care about what is good for the US or beneficial to its people if it doesn’t fit within their narrow ideological confines. This has been proven over and over again.

They use patriotism as a weapon against anyone who doesn’t agree with them, to the point of not only questioning individuals' patriotism but branding them as traitors.

You’ve pointed out a basic flaw in the conservative approach to politics in recent years. Our country has suffered from their hateful accusations and blatant attempts to squash all dissent.

I also agree with you that Gore is not a liberal but a progressive. I think his Nobel Prize is much-deserved and an honor for our country.

The fact that you refuse to consider Gore to be a liberal is all anyone needs to know. You are either misinformed or deliberately practicing obfuscation.

A "progressive" is a liberal who realizes that people have now figured out what "liberal" means. America rejects liberalism, thus the label change.

When liberals like Al Gore are proud enough of their philosophy to call themselves liberals, then they have the right to ask America to be proud of their achievements. Al Gore is ashamed to call himself a liberal.

How does that make the rest of you liberals feel?

The award lost all prestige the second they handed it to the terrorist Arafat. Sorry, just the way it is. It has nothing to do with political ideology or patriotism. Conservatives didn't start attacking the award because Gore was nominated, we have known that it's a farce and means absolutely nothing since 1994. Get your facts straight.

Why should we feel proud about a lie? Its a bogus award and nothing proves that more than Gore winning it. The Peace Prize has been a joke since Arafat won it.

I'm proud an American won it, as I'm sure you are proud that Kissinger and Nixon (declined) won it in the '70.

I don't agree with his claims, but I'd rather it be him than someone from another country.

It's says that those conservatives are a bunch of dumb asses. But then what do you expect from Bush followers?

Their hatred of Gore surpasses all the work he has done in the name of America both at home and abroad. He is working tirelessly to represent America in a positive way, which is epitomized by his reception of a Nobel Peace Prize. I agree they should be proud to have such a man working in their name.

Edit: BRYAN, the only one on your list who actually is a Nobel Laureate is Arafat, and that is because he attempted on numerous occasions to outline peace accords int eh middle east.
