Oh... But I forgot the best part... Poor Al has to SHARE it with the U.N. Global Climate Change panel!

I'm surprised. Since when is the prize awarded for PHONY science (And Al Gore's "documentary" is chock full of it. Just talk to any real climatologist) to hypocritical politicians who preach about global warming while at the same time using twenty times the amount of energy as the average American and flying around in his private jet?!

Oh, and for those of you who defend him as living a "carbon neutral lifestyle". GET OVER IT! The guy buys "carbon offsets" from a company HE helped found, and buying them does NOT change his total energy consumption or "carbon emissions".

Then again... Considering who the prize as given to in the past (Yasser Arafat and Jimmy Carter), it's become clear that it's now little more than a political joke. Next thing you know, the prize will go to... Hm.. Amadinejad? OR maybe Osama Bin Laden himself?!

Does this strike anyone else as funny?

Spleenwater,
I don't have the time or the space here, but I've had numerous discussions about this in the past. While CLIMATE CHANGE is real, there is NO concrete evidence that mankind is the cause or the solution.

For now, here's one link to further your studies on the matter:

Tribeca_Belle,
2500 scientists is HARDLY a majority. Your ignorance of how modern "science" has gotten intermingled with politics is truly sad. Even if there were five thousand, it would still be a minority, and it would still not change the fact that they're doing little more than quoting consensus of opinion. Consensus of opinion does NOT equal fact.

"Tim",
Check the link I gave Spleenwater. That's got more than enough information.

The Nobel Peace Prize lost any prestige it once had when they gave the award to Yasser Arafat. The man did nothing to deserve it and led a group that murdered thousands after he received it. They further sunk into the the sewer when they awarded the prize to Jimmy Carter for no other reason than to spite George W. Bush and America.

I'm not sure I qualify as a "non political" American, but I'd like to answer anyway. Who won last year? How many know? I don't remember her name. I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm no longer even sure what her country of origin was, but I think it was in Africa. I remember thinking at the time that I hoped her winning the prize furthered her goals, because they sounded truly altruistic and worthy. I remember thinking at the time that she was facing some pretty steep political resistance. I suspect this year's award will have similar "impact." For the record, I'm fiscally conservative, fundamentally libertarian in politics, and liberal on many social issues. Edit addition - I hope that he uses his political connections and name recognition to get some action on conservation and reliance on non-fossil fuels.

The only part of your rambling that's funny is, "Just ask any real climatologist." Oh, really? Name one. Provide me with one link. Drop one name.....That's what I thought.

I looked at that link. Where do I click to get facts and statistics? All I see is theories without the facts that are usually sited to back those theories. I must be clicking on the wrong stuff....Where should I click to get facts and stats that prove global warming is wrong again?

I like the ad homenin attacks you received already. Mainly because they left can not argue ideas so they attack people.

I agree the NBPP is a hoax. It is more a political statement than a peaceful one. The guy is a quack. He pays himself for releasing carbon dioxide. Now that, by anyone standard is messed up.

I think it’s pitiful and pathetic that you attack the conclusions of the world’s most reputable scientists and then try to smear Al Gore for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Your ranting would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad, disrespectful and desperate.

i will agree with you that Al could do more himself in his personal life to comply with what he says needs to be done to combat global warming...and that this shows some hypocrisy between his message and the messenger.

but the science behind global warming and the human species involvement in exacerbating a very real problem is still good science.

don't refuse to hear the truth in Gore's message, just because he can't live up to his own expectations.

The Nobel prize has been marginalized. It is now a joke. To be awarded based on junk science.
A group of bed-wetters stroking each other is all the commission has been reduced to.

its just the sign of the times........I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them, because when I called, none did answer, when I spoke, they did not hear; but they did evil before Mine eyes and chose that in which I delighted not."

Could I please ascertain your credentials so as I may see how you are educated enough to claim it to be "phony science"?

And also.. what happened to the Patriotism the right likes to talk about.. shouldn't you congratulate an American for winning the prize.. even if you don't agree with the reason he won?

Less funny as nauseating. At least the Nobel Council is no longer pretending to be neutral.
