WE should have a sliding scale similar to this: Any family earning less than $150,000 per year qualifies for a tax credit for any insurance premiums they have to personally pay for, all the way down to families making at least $70,000 per year. Families making less than $70,000 per year get a much smaller tax break, but also get a discount of up to 50% of the cost of their health insurance. So they would have to go out and get their insurance and the insurance company can bill the fed government for the part the customer did not pay(50% of premiums). Families or households making less than $25,000 per year, get free healthcare if they can provide proof of citizenship.

Supply and demand will also affect this plan, because most health care providers who accept this government program will be busier, and those who do not accept it will be less busy. So consumers could decide to self insure entirely and go to less busy providers. That would be their choice.

I'm not suggesting these threats are unreal, niether that thay are not worth standing against, but my problem is that they are so ill defined. Our enemy one minute is our friend the next. Is it really worth sacrificing innocent lives, patriotic lives, and useful lives when nobody really knows where the evil is?

How about a war on elitism, or protectionism, or priviledge?

When George W. Bush Presidency ends on January 20, 2009, it will be a very sad day for America to see one of the Greatest Presidents in American History leave office. I will happy however if a Republican is elected President and I will be more happier if that Republican is his brother John Ellis "Jeb" Bush because I truely Believe Jeb Bush is the right person to continue George W. Lets assume you are correct in that we should not have socialized medicine and that the reason to oppose it is to keep taxes down, and keep government spending down. I think that is a commandable attitude to not waste money....so I sort of agree. But my question is ..how then do you justify pissing away all those hundreds of billions of dollars in an "elective war" in iraq...a war that did not have to be...that we just decided to start. How can you be so frugal and so fiscally responsible when it comes to taking care of citizens and their health but be willing to throw good money after bad in Iraq like its going out of style. Where is the outrage for that waste of taxpayer money. Those are taxes that you were charged that are obviously excessive..since government can just piss it away like that. Dont ya agree?

In my area ( I live in a blue state, on the east coast) they have started airing commercials with a solider who has been injured and lost his leg in the war speaking up for continuing it and a mother who's son died in the war also speaking up for this war. They are very emotional commercials but it does not change my opinion. They also make a connection between 9/11 and Iraq in one of the commercials when Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. It only convinces me further that the longer we stay the more soldiers will die and lose their limbs. Is this just an overly dramatic emotional appeal, a last ditch effort to get people to support this war again? I mean look how many families of soldiers and other Americans want them home.

Do they realize that religion in government was exactly what the founding fathers and the other first Americans were running AWAY from? Do they realize that people are free from religions that they do not believe in being pressed upon them was what this country was founded upon. Not all people believe in God and not all people are Christian so why should Christianity and God be forced upon those people? Many of these people also feel like Islam is being forced upon them. They don't like it....so why do they think their religion is right for everyone else? Why do those people feel like people do not have values or have poor values without the influence of the bible? Do they know that people can come up with their own values from life experiences and that common sense and courtesy and Christian values tend to overlap?
