Associated Press has learned the Government Accountability Office, or GAO, will report that at least 13 of the 18 benchmarks to measure the surge of U.S. troops to Iraq are unfulfilled ahead of a Sept. 15 deadline. That's when Bush is to give a detailed accounting of the situation eight months after he announced the policy, according to three officials familiar with the matter.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the report has not been made public, also said the administration is preparing a case to play down the findings, arguing that Congress ordered the GAO to use unfair, "all or nothing" standards when compiling the document.

The GAO is to give a classified briefing about its findings to lawmakers on Thursday. It is not yet clear when its unclassified report will be released but it is due Sept. 1 amid a series of assessments called for in January legislation that authorized Bush's plan to send 30,000 more troops to Iraq, where there is now a total of more than 160,000 troops.

Among those Bush will hear from are the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Defense Secretary Robert Gates; the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus; and the U.S. ambassador to Iraq,

I was thinking to myself a couple of days ago, about what people might think, If The U.S.A was not the super Power instead it was Russia,... To intall its "sovreignity" and "Liberate" Americans, Russia would Invade The U.S to install what they say is a liberation to its people (God forbids all this, we all know that it cant happen) And Russia Imidiately Installs a "Sovreign Government" But Wouldn't Americans offer any resistance, To Throw out The enemy and if it did, Wouldn't Those be referred to as Insurgents and Terrorists by the politically controlled media? Wouldnt Americans consider civilians that cooperate with the enemy as Traitors? Just a thought ... Everyone be respectful and answer maturely (I will report Abuse)

Im confused,

We have seen alot of post lately saying Republicans are hypocritical in their stance on gay marriage.

I thought their stance was pretty straight foward, they are against it, like the majority of the American people.

Now, the Left says they think gays should be allowed to get married.

But then the Democratic candiates for president, all say they are against gay marriage.

They all said this at the Gay Forum Political Debate.

Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Edwards and Barrack Obama all said they are against gay marriage.

Now isn't that hypocritical ??

So if Republicans have the exact same position on gay marriage as the Democrats do.

Where is the hypocracy ????

The Cox Report cited the CP Group's payment to Trie--the purpose of which the FBI did not determine--and noted that the CP Group was involved in a telecommunications consortium controlled by companies linked to the Chinese government. That is, the report suggested that Trie and the CP Group provided a conduit for Chinese money supposedly flowing into the Clinton Administration.

But as the CP Group chased after deals and influence around the world during the nineties--joining with NYNEX, Gerber, the Ford Motor Company and Kentucky Fried Chicken in assorted projects--it did not seek out only Democrats as friends; it also collaborated with members of George W. Bush's immediate family.

In January 1994--more than two years before Chearavanont and the CP Group officials came to the White House for coffee--former President Bush made a six-day trip to China and then visited Thailand as the guest of Dhanin Chearavanont's CP Group. On January 19, the Bangkok Post ran a photograph of Bush arriving at Don Muang airport and noted in the caption that he was greeted by Chearavanont. Also, that same day, the CP Group and its telecommunications subsidiary, TelecomAsia, published a full-page ad in the Bangkok newspapers welcoming Bush. On January 20 Bush attended a champagne breakfast ceremony at the Oriental Hotel to celebrate the opening of the CP Group's new paint factory, in the wake of a licensing agreement that gave Advance Paint and Chemical, a Thai business partner of the CP Group, the right to sell Dutch Boy paints in China. That night, during a gala reception for Bush at the Oriental, also hosted by the CP Group, Bush spoke about China. He defended his decision to reject post-Tiananmen Square calls for yanking China's most-favored-nation trade status, saying, "To influence China, you do not isolate China." After Bush's three-day stay in Bangkok, Chearavanont personally escorted Bush back to the airport; a picture of this scene appeared in a Bangkok newspaper the following day.

Clinton took money from China. Clinton also gave U.S. military secrets to China. That action put the U.S. at risk for a nuclear missile attack from China. Two foreigners pled guilty but for some reason they didn't go to jail. Also, China secretly helped fund Bill Clinton's legal defense. Democrat politicians don't want the public to know the real facts about Clinton and China.

It appears to me that the majority of people who dislike Bush dislike him either because of the war in Iraq, or because other people dislike him and they're just following them. So if you dislike Bush, list as many reasons for your dislike, other than the Iraq war.
