Associated Press has learned the Government Accountability Office, or GAO, will report that at least 13 of the 18 benchmarks to measure the surge of U.S. troops to Iraq are unfulfilled ahead of a Sept. 15 deadline. That's when Bush is to give a detailed accounting of the situation eight months after he announced the policy, according to three officials familiar with the matter.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the report has not been made public, also said the administration is preparing a case to play down the findings, arguing that Congress ordered the GAO to use unfair, "all or nothing" standards when compiling the document.

The GAO is to give a classified briefing about its findings to lawmakers on Thursday. It is not yet clear when its unclassified report will be released but it is due Sept. 1 amid a series of assessments called for in January legislation that authorized Bush's plan to send 30,000 more troops to Iraq, where there is now a total of more than 160,000 troops.

Among those Bush will hear from are the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Defense Secretary Robert Gates; the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus; and the U.S. ambassador to Iraq,

It is obscene! Molokai is not liked and he is not going to bring anyone together.

Iraq is as bad off, or worse (Civilian Murders have doubled outside of Baghdad) and the Prime minister has done SQUAT for years, and is still doing it!

Bush wants anotherr $50 Billion. Can you imagine what a Republican would say if it was going to take care of our own. They would be having a meltdown!

This war is going nowhere. Divide the country up and lets get out! These people are NEVER going to settle their differences! What they need is anothe hand picked Dictator by the US, just like we picked Saddam, and even supported him at the UN when he Allegedly used gas on the Kurds! Some think it was the Iranians as the gas used wasn't a type Saddam had!

We should have been gone long ago. I guess Exxon might not agree! And I know those on corporate welfare would not agree as most of that money goes to them!

In the past 2 monthe the kids coming home in body bags is somewhat less, but not a lot. One killed yesterday and 3 the day before!! For What! The reason they are down as they are in Baghdad and all the factions are now outside of Baghdad.

It is time to start cutting the money!

I don't know why you are a poser! You were reported, I am sure you have been kicked off before!

There is no winning this war in Iraq militarily. If YOU knew anything at all about the military you would know that! The handwriting is on the wall! One-half of the military )ACTIVE DUTY) in a poll said that we should have never gone and they do not agree with the war. Almost in the same percentages as everyone else with any sense in America!

We didn't lose the war, I am just tired of body bags, corporate welfare and people getting rich off of blood monry.

I'll compare my DD 214 with you any day of the week, and twice on SUNDAY! You are the liar!
