Why exactly do you think corruption occurs in the US Government? Do they do it because they want to make sure their opinion and the way they think stick and they try and make sure they make said opinion or idea a law?

Because politicians must repay those who got them in office. This is nothing new. Special interest groups are the puppeteers and the elected officials are their toys. Very few politicians think for themselves these days...except when it comes time to vote for a raise!

The corrupt ones are there to be in a better position for cash under the table from lobbyist. They get billions of dollars of pork money for special interest groups, and this pork is hidden in all sort of bills, for a couple thousand or so in campaign donations. Then again, some have been corrupt way before they ever got elected. The worst of the worse continues to get by with it for twenty or thirty years. The power and under the table cash means more to them than doing anything for citizens. Corruption is for self profit.
