In my area ( I live in a blue state, on the east coast) they have started airing commercials with a solider who has been injured and lost his leg in the war speaking up for continuing it and a mother who's son died in the war also speaking up for this war. They are very emotional commercials but it does not change my opinion. They also make a connection between 9/11 and Iraq in one of the commercials when Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. It only convinces me further that the longer we stay the more soldiers will die and lose their limbs. Is this just an overly dramatic emotional appeal, a last ditch effort to get people to support this war again? I mean look how many families of soldiers and other Americans want them home.

They also say that Congress is switching votes for Iraq for "political" reasons. What about the troop's LIVES? Another thing in the commercials state is that we are making progress in Iraq but they have no evidence to support this.

The terrorists are not even in Iraq...CIA has confirmed that Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden is in Pakistan and back to pre-9/11strengths. So how is being in Iraq protecting us from another attack. We have just let the people who attacked us run right though our grasp.

Always be wary of sheep in wolves' clothing.

This is merely a desperate attempt at trying to drum up any support for the Iraqi occupation. This supposedly "grassroots" organization is actually a front put up recently by former White House aides. Ari Fleischer, former White House spokesman, is the founding board member.

It is so tragic and sad that such commercials are out there to brainwash us. I live in New York City and haven't seen such commercials, but I noticed that GM and Jeep are making commercials that say you can go to selected car dealers and give them a letter to "support the troops"... Little do they know that a piece of paper doesn't defend you against an IUD or Machine gun! just reading your description really disturbs me so I can't imagine what the actual commercials are like, just so we know, what state are you in exactly?

P.S. There is a Woman in my neighboorhood in Queens that lost her son in Iraq and she is now very vocal against the bush administration.

Additional P.S.: I bet you the war supporters on yahoo answers will be silent to your question :-(

New Comment : Sorry I keep adding to this i just don't like to delete stuff once I post it.
I really feel bad for the mother in the second clip and I feel bad that she is so in the dark, so I don't want what im going to write now to seem like im putting her down but there is no other way to describe what she said: Its oxy-moron like, "He died a week before the election", her attempt to support the pro-war position that the iraqis now can vote and have a government is so weak. If the iraqis were so liberated and free to vote a week after her son died, why did a soldier have to die? Even if you can vote, if a soldier is dieng in your state than how is that safe, how is this progress? Its hard to put into words what im trying to say so my last words are just think about what she said.

READ THIS TOO: I thought I was done writing about this, but then I went to the website of the organization that made the commercials, the following is written clearly on the homepage:

""Our mission is to ensure a strong national defense and a powerful fight against terror, especially in Iraq. On the domestic front, our mission is to give hope, lift people up, and achieve prosperity through free enterprise.""

Now this is about prosperity? Whose prosperity? When people die for others to be prosperious it is an EXTREME POVERTY

Also, check out all of the commercials on the org's website, there is one where a woman lost her brother on 9/11 and her husband in Iraq and still claims to support the war

Propaganda works...that's why they do it. We get the same BS from the right wing talk show bozos and FOX....'we're winning'...the enemy is on the run....there are only a few dead-enders....they'll follow us home...if we leave our service men and women will have died for nothing.... The fact are more like: We're not 'winning', the 'enemy isn't 'on the run', there are more of these 'dead-enders' every day, nobody is going to 'follow us home'....if someone intends to do us harm they're not going to wait until we leave Iraq, and sadly, yes, a lot of good people died for nothing. When they show those propaganda commercials just shake your head at the vileness of the Bush Junta....these are truely evil people!

Wow, that's the biggest bunch of neocon, conservative propaganda that I've ever seen. I'm a Republican and I too have reached the conclusion that our mission in Iraq is to boost the profits of the oil industry and Haliburton.

There is a special place in hell for Bush and Cheney. I wonder how much the folks in that commercial were bribed to participate in that commercial? I don't know anybody who supports this war.

Yea. Pretty pathetic. They even show the planes hitting the twin towers. They are sick.

They talk about the Iraq war, yet they show the attack on 9-11 as though Iraq has anything to do with that. The commercial should be asking Bush why did he allow Bin Laden to escape when he abandoned the war against the Taliban.

Freedom watch is funded by former Bush aides and donors, including former press Secretary Ari Fleischer.
Those clips are filthy propaganda that would make Goebles proud.

Dear Lindsey; Without having seen these commercials, I would have said that they are probably not in support of the war, but instead in support of the troops:the dangers they face on a daily basis, defending the people of an oppressed country, without the resources or the military strength to fight for themselves. However after seeing both of the ones you mentioned, it does come across with the message of supporting the "war" rather than the combatants. What we do know from history however, is that sadly our allies have been persecuted for taking part in wars, not in their homelands....this is wrong, these people have a sense of duty to represent their country in times of war, whether their compatriots at home agree with them or not...I guess what I'm trying to say is this:Hate the war, not the valiant souls who lay their lives on the line, in order that the lesser in strength and numbers can live in freedom, without fear for their lives, or freedom from oppression. We all hate war....just remember to respect and honour the troops who fight to uphold a God given right to liberty

I don't really need a commercial to tell me that we need to fight and kill terrorists where they breed. Whether it be the 911 attacks, or the brutal way Saddam ran his country, or the terrorists that's trying to take Iraq now, a terrorist is a terrorist and we're in an all out, serious war against terrorists.

No I haven't and I live in the New York, New England area, but as A soldier it would be a refreshing change than the crap we get from Harry reid we already lost the war or democratic senators saying if we succeed in Iraq it would be bad for there party
