We don't hate the environment. We have to breathe the same air and live on the same planet. We just don't look at everything as pessimistically as Democrats. Democrats have always been more interested in restricting our freedoms based on some very questionable science or what they think is best for other peoples lives. We resent that. We know that change is occurring, but that man is entirely responsible for it? Not enough evidence.

I personally am a Libertarian (and obviously a Capitalist) and I oppose emission caps. I oppose them, not because it is alright to pollute, but because they imply that some level of pollution is acceptable. I believe that property owners should be allowed to sue polluters (it was that way under the common law until the Corporatists made pollution legal in the early 20th century). Don't confuse the Neo-Cons with Capitalists. They aren't Capitalists. Neo-Cons are Corporatists who support Corporate Welfare such as the Federal Reserve (an banking cartel that is legally permitted to counterfeit money and which many people, including Milton Friedman, erroneously think to be compatible with Capitalism), the Military-Industrial Complex (there is nothing Capitalist about destroying property because a firm such as Halliburton is unprofitable without a warmongering government willing to overpay ridiculously for crappy weapons and equipment, such as $500 toilet seats to be sent to Iraq), Medicare Part D (which permitted Big Pharma to raise the prices of prescription drugs for Seniors way above market levels), Medicare as a whole (Medicare was a solution in search of a problem because medical care was very cheap before it began and doctors provided free health care if the patient was needy), the War on (some) Drugs (which is designed to harm Big Pharma's street competition), the idea of patents and "intellectual property" in general (These actually are grants of monopoly by government which are incompatible with Capitalism), and direct subsidies to businesses (for example, the farming subsidies that almost entirely go to farming corporations that were didn't exist before farming began and they include such idiocies as paying farmers not to grow crops and increasing the price of food at the expense of the poor; most of the welfare actually goes to big corporations, as if they actually need any of it).
I would suggest to look into Libertarianism (and in particular, to Ron Paul, the Libertarian Congressman from Texas who intends to end the policy of aggressive war, shut down the IRS and Federal Reserve, repeal the unPatriotic Act and other violations of civil liberties, and reinstate the original intent of the Constitution).

Not really, "progressives" have blocked both Atomic power and wind. 2 of the best and nonpolluting sources of power available. Also Liberals have blocked pilot projects in geothermal and tidal power, both have been used successfully in Europe. The facts are that we have the cleanest air and water in the world and this has happened in the last 10 years, during a Republican administration. Ask why it is that the socalled "progressives" do their best to keep us dependant on foriegn oil and polluting sources of power?

I am the exception to that rule. Of course many liberals arent helping out either. I think we should do a little more to clean Earth clean. Even if global warming is exxagerated, there's no physical harm in cleaning this place up. After all, we live here.

You are mistaken. Conservatives care about the environment as much as anyone else, they (we) just take facts into account when making decisions.
"progressives" do there best to use scare tactics to support their hypocritical environmental lies. They like to only feel good about themselves, thinking they are they only ones who care.
Here is a perfect example:
I'll bet you didn't know that methane gas from cows contributes to greenhouse gasses more than ALL OF TRANSPORTATION. That means, cars, buses, airplanes, etc. I'll bet you also didn't know that when the libs calculate what they consider to be contributions to greenhouse gasses made by man, methane gas from cows is counted, because they consider farm animals "man made".
Pretty obvious answer, if you look into it.

We don't try to, it's just that at worse we'll spend trillions of dollars over the next decade to keep the planet rising one degree Celsius. It's just a natural process the Earth goes through because we're coming out of a mini-ice age.
Let me put it in perspective. You leave an ice-cube to melt. It was Joe who was farting next to that caused it to melt, it was the sun and heat.

I think it is because most conservatives have no clue about envrionmental issues.
Here is short summary of global warming so maybe the ignorant people out there can understand it better:
Ice caps melting in north mean more water in ocean.
more water in ocean... bad.
more water in ocean makes floods..really bad.
Maybe the cons will understand that very small point, however not one of them are brave enough to actually have an open mind to see Al Gore's movie before making an uneducated opinion about it.

No most of us respect the environment. We just don't believe the junk science that the liberals try to pass over as fact.
