Does a free vote ensure a democracy ?

This is one of those half-truths.
We get a free vote, but the system forces us to choose a person, or a party who then becomes 'the king', well we call them Prime Ministers or Presidents.

There are countries where you vote for a representative, and the representatives must vote on issues, and the 'chairman' becomes the leader of the representatives...

Bottom line we don't elect a single person to become a 'freely elected dictator'.

An obscure provision in a huge military authorization bill that President George W. Bush recently signed terminates the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction.

The clause has generated surprise and some outrage among lawmakers who say they had no idea it was in the final legislation.

The federal oversight agency, led by a Republican lawyer named Stuart W. Bowen Jr., has sent U.S. officials to jail on bribery and conspiracy charges, exposed disastrously poor construction work by well-connected companies like Cheneys Halliburton Co. and Parsons Iraq Joint Venture, and discovered that the military did not properly track hundreds of thousands of weapons it shipped to Iraqi security forces.

(I have a good Idea as to why the one office charged with exposing corruption in Iraq has been terminated, but I would really like to know what you think.)
SO......What do you think?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061105/ap_on_re_us/haggard_sex_allegations His excuse was that he did not have sex with the man and only bought meth for supposedly academic purposes...the reason it's pitiful is that a man in his position would have been careful to be untainted...it's so hypocritical. I always thought that the loudest voices in anti gay rhetoric were probably closet homosexuals who were afraid and disgusted with themselves and that is why they talked the way they did, but this certainly confirms it for me. I am a straight Liberal man and can see no reason philosophically to judge other persons...judge me for being open mined but don't judge me for any unethical actions. I believe in my creed and am ethical to it. why can't everyone see them for what they are doing in the first place?

Have you ever seen any movie, or video in which it had excerpts from terrorists? I just watched one (Obsession). For a while I thought the other conservatives were calling you guys terrorists, just because they didn't agree with you. But, when I was watching it, I hear a lot of the same things from the terrorists as you guys. The terrorists call Bush the devil, and you guys call him the anti-christ.

Do you guys know anything about terrorism?

Weren't the conservatives saying the same things about womens rights? Blacks being free? Blacks having equal rights?

Same old crap, different bag. Only the conservatives want to go backwards and restrict rights.

Those that have the rights are the ones who want to restrict them for others.

The video in question is the Doubletree hotel video, which government watchdog (sometime propaganda outlet) Judicial Watch says has been promised to them on November 9th.

According to a CNN FOIA request of 2002, a nearby hotel's video DID DID DID capture the impact.

The Doubletree and a Sheraton Hotel are the only hotels within view of the pentagon crash site. The FBI says no Sheraton video exists.

But according to Jacqueline Maguire special agent, counterterrorism division, signed under penalty of perjury (28USCs/s1746) the..."Doubletree hotel video did NOT capture the impact"

So which is it to be? Does a hotel video capture the impact or doesn't it?

On NOV 9, maybe we will find out. Or maybe we will get another grainy, slow-framed video that shows nothing but an explosion.....and no Boeing jet to be found....just like at the crash site.
