A Muslim told me the perception amongst Muslims is that USA wants to destroy Islam. Muslims, please tell why. What did USA do to create this illogical perception?

It was called a naive question by a person who would not explain her stance, but you did not ask it.... you relayed it. You sure got alot of people excited who gave you illogical responses. Ok... we were attacked on 9-11 by al-queda... but instead of saying "hey, we're going to attack al-Queda, the group that attacked us"... Bush starts calling them "Islamafacists"...

you could basically call almost EVERY middle eastern country Islamafacist in one way or another... many have very strict muslim laws and don't have democracies...

add to this, the fact that we invaded the one country that had almost nothing to do with 9-11... and you start to see why they might think that way...

also, there is a large anti-Muslim attitude among many conservatives (who have the majority right now in the government)... as you can see many questions on here that talk about "why don't we just kill all the muslims"... or "why don't we just nuke all the muslims"...

gee, can you see any reasons why someone may think that way?

I am not a Muslim, but here's my two cents worth:

Islam is a "peaceful and tolerant" religion.

How do they expect me to believe this when I've seen them on the nightly news rioting and acting like lunatics - because of a cartoon?

Why do they continue to kill one another?

The radical faction killing thousands of innocent men, women and children in the name of a demented ideology - and no visable outrage and condemnnation forthcoming from the vast majority of Muslims.

The Muslim Consul refusing to condem the suicide bombers - even though requested to do so by the United Nations.

The rape, pillaging and murder by Arab militia in Dar fur.

This perception they have is not illogical - their religion has allegedly been hijacked by a bunch of psychopathic murderers - they are not Communist radicals, or Hungarian radicals - they are ISLAMIC radicals - and the lack of a logical response of outrage from the majority of Muslims is very suspicious behavior, to say the least.

These terrorists are causing great harm to the religion of Islam - and when the terrorists are equated to Islam, the perception becomes reality.

Ever look at a list of the worlds conflicts today? Most of them involves Islamists trying to force an Islamic state on the majority.

im sorry but i think you have a misunderstanding.. I have no problem with people who are muslim or (islam) i am cathlioc yet i have no problems with the people who believe different. Its called tolorance and everybody should try it. You only see what the media patrays to you and your friend. There are many people who do not agree with muslim ways but get along in peace people who have different beliefs can coinside with one another with out harm or feelings of hate. But you see where ever you go wether it be in china united states iraq or any where there is going to be hate discrimination and injustices its just the way it is and where ever you go there are going to be people like me who are tolerant. Would it be fair for me to come back at you and say why does north korea kill christians for there beliefs why does parts of china kill christians why does why does why does you see its not only in the united states that this problem occurs but every place country has it
