Republican elected to the U.S. House of Reps in 1946 and 1948. Then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1950. Then was elected Vice President in 1952 with Dwight Eisenhower. Then ran for President in 1960 but narrowly lost to Jack Kennedy. Then ran for President again in 1968 and narrowly won. Ran for re-election as President in 1972 and won by a landslide (carried every state except Massachusetts). Then resigned in August, 1974 because he was about to be impeached. The articles of impeachment were mainly directed at the fact that he knew about a breaking-and-entering crime (at the Watergate Hotel, the office of the DNC) and actively tried to cover up the investigation.

All you will get in here is a bunch of folk who really don't know what they are talking about (IMHO).
You need to Google "Richard Nixon" (without the quotes) to get a more accurate answer.
RMN was a great man who (like everyone else) had his faults. When researching this remember, No one on this planet is perfect. That and the fact that when in a position as President of this great country, there are always others out there who will try to make you look bad! Usually, at any cost!
Just My Humble Opinion,

He was born in California - not attractive & moderate income. Served in Navy as Lt. Graduated from Duke University Law School with honors & became attorney.
Served as Vice-President for President Einshower then he was elected the 37th President. He had the highest IQ of any president. He ended draft & later ended the Viet Nam War. He was known for pushing anti-crime bills & pro-enviormental bills.
Unusual for Republican president. During his office, the 1st moon landing was accomplished, he opened trade with China (considered his biggest accomplishment & the strength of our economy today). He accomplished a nuclear weapons treaty with Russia (began Cold War), & he negotiated a peace treaty between Isreal & Syria. He was not involved with break in at Watergate but was guilty of the cover up afterwards. He resigned & he said to heal the country & spare an impeachment trial. He died in 1974 leaving his wife & 2 daughters.
He was not racist - definitely a anti-Semite though. He was rough around the edges, but so intelligent he accomplished great & lasting effects in history.

He was a crooked president in the 70's and Eisenhower's VP in the 50s he was a lowlife really. have you ever heard of Watergate? Nixon was the President that ordered the cover up and the mess was so criminal that a deal was struck with Gerald Ford and Nixon resigned and then Gerald Ford gave him a Pardon. He was also a Republican guess old traditions die hard....even corruption and sleaze.

Had an particularly lovable canines named Checkers. ... ... ok ok. heavily? extra desirable commerce w/ Russia and detente (hastening the top of the chilly war); de-escalated Vietnam many times words (even nonetheless in specific bombed all over the map), tried to advance nuclear peace, created EPA and OSHA, created the parks branch, created affirmative action, extra desirable college integration, moonwalk. on the different hand, he supported Pinochet, Operation CONDOR/grimy war as an entire, bombing Cambodia, compelled Taiwan into closer family members with China, escalated the Indian-Pakistani conflicts, and fully dropped the ball on Kent State. speaking as a liberal, i think of Nixon's _intentions_ have been sturdy--i've got self belief his heart replaced into interior the main remarkable place. yet i think of he wasn't cut back out for politics, replaced into too relatively charmed by skill of risky people in numerous components of the international, and that i think of Watergate replaced into relatively inevitable given his character.
