Does a free vote ensure a democracy ?

This is one of those half-truths.
We get a free vote, but the system forces us to choose a person, or a party who then becomes 'the king', well we call them Prime Ministers or Presidents.

There are countries where you vote for a representative, and the representatives must vote on issues, and the 'chairman' becomes the leader of the representatives...

Bottom line we don't elect a single person to become a 'freely elected dictator'.

I'm not sure if a free vote ensures democracy, but it is essential to democracy. There are major differences between Presidents & prime ministers & kings, at least in theory. In some countries (Egypt & Syria come immediately to mind) where it is a very thin blurry line.

True. We need an educated voter. Sadly, some swallow any propaganda they are fed.
