Yesterday, I saw the film "Jesus Camp", which is a documentary about an Evangelical Christian camp for kids run by a youth minister named Becky Fischer. Every year, kids from around the country are sent to this camp in North Dakota to be indoctrinated by Fischer. At one point in the film, Fischer tells a radio talk show host that she doesn't show any political preferences, but other parts of the film show that she is lying. For one thing, Fischer says that she thinks that what Bush has done has been good for Evangelicals. At one point, a camp staff member brings out a life-size cardboard cut-out of George W. Bush and has the kids say prayers for him. Also, another staffer brings out models of fetuses so that he can use them in a presentation to convince the kids, who are often as young as 7 or 8, that abortion is wrong and tells them that it's their responsibility to fight against it. There's no indication that the kids are being taught values such as love and compassion.
