Yes. And it's not new. The particular ferocity of your fellows is a function of their fear over losing power-- something that is richly deserved.

You mean you didn't see this coming?
Duh!

Anyone who has had the ability to question the norm could see where this party was heading.
I've been a loyal Republican since I was able to vote (back in 1973).
I've been active in party politics, appointed to committees and even went to a national convention.
Around the early 1980's, I saw the religious right begin to infiltrate the party...and that is when the decline in civil rights began.
Those people want a government to act similar to the Taliban.

So, there you go...a short history of the rise and fall of the GOP.
Time to form a new, third party with some of the fiscal goals of the Republicans, some of the social responsibility goals of the Democrats and lots of personal liberty goals as envisioned by our founding fathers (and mothers!).

Your fellow Republicans? Why are all of your questions asked from an ultra left prospective. Maybe you are not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I am here to help. Republicans are generally considered the party of the right and the Democrats the party of the left. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable in a party that supports your liberal views.

Or maybe this is just another liberal lie. Why is it that liberals can never be honest with their opinions.
