No ammount of evidence and facts can lead them to question their "beliefs".

Attacking Iraq and continuing to watch Americans and Iraqis die for no reason is a GREAT idea!

Borrowing $9 trillion and increasing dollars is a GREAT idea!

Polluting the environment is a GREAT idea!

Exporting American jobs is a GREAT idea!

Importing illegal workers is a GREAT idea!

48 million and increasing Americans with NO health Insurance is a GREAT idea!

28 million and increasing Americans in poverty is a GREAT idea!

If it is the death penalty, then isn't that just ironic and not very pro-life?

If it is life-in-prison, then what do you think that woman would learn?

The society and the religions of the middle east are absolutely no different than the brutal world of Britain and others about 1,000 yrs ago . he civil wars the archaic views of god and god's role in the world etc How we treated women (they haven't had the vote all that long ) The way we dealt with criminals (the tower in London ) and the rest of it -

For this very Star Trk sounding reason we have no business in the middle east.

No one interfered with us and our extraodinarily violent and uninformed society - Of course we were the top dog in a military sense then too .

I think we should get out of thier country let them fight thier own wars and behave exactly as we have in the past and as happened to us we should let them alone to do what ever they are going to do.

It is not that I think that the people are inferior (far from it) but there civilation is a long way from ours .

We should not be giving them our technology they will develop it as they can handle it.

Conservatives are always wagging their fingers at us liberals about "moral values."

One of the things they constantly talk about is the sanctity of marriage. However, I don't see them stopping Britney Spears or any of those immoral one day marriages. And then they won't let homosexuals marry for the rest of their life.

Sick, huh?

And how many people actually knew how America was perceived in the Middle East before that time? How many of you had Arab friends who loved this country then and now? My point in my question is...how many people get politically fired up over situations that are stirred by the media opinion who don't a political perspective OTHER than what's hammered out on Comedy Central (the left) or Rush Limbaugh (the right)....anybody else like me think we should just focus on being good citizens and shut up with the half baked quacking of everything we see on television?

George W. Bush is now able to designate as an "enemy combatant" anyone who has "purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States. The broad powers given to Bush by this legislation allow him to capture, indefinitely detain, and refuse a hearing to any American citizen who speaks out against Iraq or any other part of the so-called "War on Terror."
In his goal to foster " democracy abroad" we are creating a police state here in the US. These are dark time.

in the midst of globalization...what does America have to offer?

we have outsourced so much...between nafta and china....do we produce anything? , even better do we actually EXPORT anything?( sure we export some....but is that enough to sustain the US in years to come)? Re: education....we are falling behind rest of the world. college grads who can't write a decent paper and some can't even tell you who our VP is.....we import just about everything we use...and boy do we USE.....we consume far more than any other country.

We've depleted most of our natural resources(yes...we have a bit of oil and gas, but oil and gas isn't infinite...and like I have already said....we consume so much...so our pitiful supply wouldn't last too long).

the tech industry may be strong now...but China,Japan and India will soon surpass us, they have so much cheap labor...and China is moving from cheap plastic goods into lowtech.....how long will it be before our pc and what not are all made in China

I was once told by an old man from the Middle East that America is run by the most devilish people who are the direct descendants of those villains who exterminated the Red Indians in order to grab their lands. And this genetically inherent quality to rob led America to support unpopular and undemocratic puppet regimes in Arab countries in order to control and manipulate Arab oils.

And why is it that in their haste to pass a law that delineates what is and is not torture, the legislators "inadvertently" forgot to carefully elaborate who was and who was not entitled to the right of habeas corpus, while they were trying to be so precise and definitive?
This is a political tool that can be used against ANYONE.

A few states use gambling proceeds to help pay for education, including my state of Kansas.

Georgia uses ALL it's gambling procees to pay for a FREE college education to any of it's citizens that wish to pursue college.

The Georgia plan has some merit.

Does a National Lottery, for free college, have any merit?

PS-THE USA has used lotteries before! During the Revolution, the US had a lottery to help pay for the war. Many colonies used lotteries to raise money. AND most of the original 13 states used lotteries. So a national lottery isn't far fetched! (I love the History Channel).
