We are a threat. One of the major reasons is that our Presidents know that all they have to do to stay in office for a second term is be at war. Americans always re-elect in wartimes. So if you mess up while in office- i.e. half the country says they didn't vote for you or you get caught in a sex scandal- then just declare war and you keep your job as one of the most powerful men in the world. MOST OF OUR PRESIDENTS ARE SELFISH AND NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE VOTE.

The power elite run our country and they decide who comes into power and who stays in power. One way they do this is by deciding who runs for president because no one votes in the primary. These are mostly made up of WASP- White Anglo-Saxon Protestant- Males. They are well educating, come from privileged homes, and care about things that insure their power and success and the power and success of their people- other WASP- and it's my fault. In history it's always been the college age kids that stand up and say "STOP! This is not ok with us!" but I don't have the time. These days things are so hard! We have children and jobs.

I mean our president is a negligent, arrogant, ignorant, manipulative, childish, spoiled, yet powerful pre-madonna. His writers are amazing, although he needs to stay on script because he is an idiot that never says the right things. His family is making money off our wars. They make money and it only cost the lives of others people's kids. It's not his kids; his kids are parting in a club somewhere. He lies and distorts. He violates our constitution i.e. - separation of church and state, giving government money to churches (was I the only one who caught that part of the State of The Union"?).

We need to do something BIG. We have to get together and find a way to make some changes. Get the stars involved, like Lil' Wayne, to help drawl attention to the cause. This is our problem.

I think that's very correct, since we have invaded two sovereign countries in the last 6 years. What other nation has a record that bad or worse? Not Iran.

Israel did invade Lebanon, but that's just one.

And, who has the world's largest inventory of thermonuclear weapons and the means to deliver all of them? Heck, which nation has the largest inventory of weapons, the largest number of personnel in the military and the largest military budget in the world? Not Iran.

Which nation has expressed a specific policy of being willing and feeling justified to invade another sovereign nation on the mere basis of feeling threatened? Not Iran.

By the way, CJL in Texas, the world doesn't depend on us for much of anything anymore - we depend on the rest of the world (mainly China and Japan) to loan us 2 billion dollars a day to keep our economy going. We manufacture practically nothing. So where you get the idea the world depends on the USA for anything is completely beyond me.

Bush and his Bushbot supporters have ruined my country in 6 short years. I only hope we can take it back from them this November and begin the process of fixing the damage.

I would hope that would be the answer. America is the strongest military power in the world. America wields much more influence than Iran. Good or bad it's just a fact. America is also the biggest hope for peace for the same reasons. There is always an element of resentment. I like to root for underdogs myself. Many countries in the world would feel Iran is an "underdog". Muslim majority countries aren't America's biggest fans right now and there are quite a few of them.

Yeah, I bet the rest of the world would think that. That poll presents a perfectly accurate conclusion, considering the fact that the rest of the world HATES the U.S. You don't need a poll to tell you that.

Let's just pull out of the process of trying to develop world peace. Let's let Iran do it.

Is this question supposed to be offensive? You can do better than that. Come on! Make some fat jokes or talk about Vietnam, that will show us. Well, not really because we've heard them so many times.

(There's a theme to your Qs and As)

(EDIT)

I care about the world's opinion, and I can criticize those opinions if I want to.

How can you even compare America's threat-quotient to Iran's threat-quotient?

Who would doubt a superpower is not a greater threat to world peace than a postage-stamp size country?

If the WORLD challenged America to a war wouldn't the WORLD be a greater threat to peace? China, Russia, Japan, and IRAN unified, a threat? You bet they would be. But not little Iran all by itself. C'mon.

By the way I'm clearly American.

Best wishes,

pup

I can see why the world thinks that way. When was the last time Iran invaded anybody? However the US on the other hand seems to be invading anyone who sets off his ideological pet peeves. While I supported helping the northern alliance to over throw the taliban, I did not and still don,t support the invasion of Iraq. There are however really stupid conservative thinkers who dream of clearing out the trouble makers of the middle east thus here we are trying to make that dream happen and like most dreams it just doesn't work in real life.

I live in the US. From what I can see the news reports on world events are more indepth in Europe and other parts of the world. The current American Administration is very hawkish and ready to go to war without real or credable evidence of reason for war...The Iraq Invasion does not pass the test for a "Just War' as it is set down by thr Roman Catholic Church, Yet the church has not been strong in it's condemnation of the U.S actions...Peace is threatened not only by Hawks but also by the silence of the rest of the woeld.

For now, I think we are a greater threat. Those who say Iran is nothing... give them a chance. They do have 40% of the worlds oil supply. I would be truly frightened if they WERE a greater threat.

I have to agree with you on this one. Bush has wielded a big stick and threatened the world in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. I mean that doggone incompetent fool doesn't know what he's doing. His actions have caused this country to be THE SINGLE BIGGEST THREAT to world peace, bar none! Enough said!

I doubt your assessment of world opinion.

Iran as the sole superpower would certainly frighten a lot more people than the current arrangement.

In fact, the Sunni Muslims would likely be the most worried.
