If it is the death penalty, then isn't that just ironic and not very pro-life?

If it is life-in-prison, then what do you think that woman would learn?

Just some prison time? I thought this was murdering an "innocent baby's life."

Abortion is not going to become illegal anytime soon.

But hopefully, the dialogue will lead to a decrease in the use of abortion as birth control.

Have you seen the number of abortions performed in the last 30 years? It's too many.

Abortion WAS illegal until the 60's. The real penalty there was the backroom abortions that led to infection, bleeding, and death to so many, many young women. Many were scarred so badly they could never have a child. But, for 300.00, you could always find a man or woman who would give you an abortion and turn you loose. Outlawing abortion does NOT stop abortion...it simply puts it in unsafe hands and is available only to those who can afford it. To think otherwise is ridiculous. We have not learned from history!
To remove "Choice" leaves millions of women without any recourse but to go underground and take chances with her life. But pro-life lunatics don't really care about either the baby or the woman...when was the last time you saw them offer a good alternative...such as volunteering to adopt the unwanted child! Not going to happen. It would seem that the religious right wing cares only about running everyone else's life, and they have a huge "except" in front of all their scathing condemnations...as in, All church rules apply to everyone EXCEPT them. Ask Tom Foley today how he feels about exploitation of minors over the Internet! HE is the one who spearheaded a law to STOP such actions....hypocrites, one and all. No other word fits the bill. Good luck, and thanks for a very good question.

Well personally, I think the debate has more to do with sex than anything else. Conservatives really don't care how many babies married folks make and whether or not they can care for them.

Time and again I read comments that put abortion out there as birth control. I would like to believe that we none of us want to see abortion used as birth control.

But conservatives don't want to promote birth control either. They are constantly pushing disinformation and thwarting the efforts of others to promote contraceptive awareness.

Why ?? Because they do not want you to have sex outside of their belief system. Abstinence is their solution and of course it will never work. Because in the end it really goes against God's plan for making new people. We see the perversions that result when men and women suppress their God given sex drives to indulge their religious passion. It frequently twists them in ways they never dreamed of.

Sorry to go on a Dennis Miller rant, but the abortion issue is a really important one. We cannot deny that abortion takes a life. I think it does, but we have a responsibility to make sure that abortion is never something to be considered.

Contraception should be promoted and supported. My fear is that religious conservatives will never stop until they have removed not only abortion but contraception as well.

And the funny thing is that I personally have lived the very life conservatives wanted me to. I have never had sex with anyone other than my wife and am raising two fine children that the Lord has blessed us with.

Of course we practice contraception, because two is enough no matter what Hank Hannagraft "The Bible Answer Man", may want you to believe.

I would think fines and possibility of some jail time, with the emphasis on punishing the person performing the abortion?

I think that's how it was in the bad old days when abortion was illegal.

I find it Ironic that most of the people I have met that are against abortion can't even properly raise there kids to become decent adults in society.
