The Labor department released new employment data today.
Since most of the neo-cons around here continue to crow about how great the economy is, I thought I would ask them to respond to this latest batch of less than stellar economic news.

"The nation's unemployment rate edged up to 4.5 percent in April as cautious employers added the fewest new jobs in more than two years, signaling that the labor market is starting to feel some of the strain of the sluggish economy.

The new tally of jobs added to the economy was the fewest since 65,000 jobs were added in November 2004.

The new report also showed that job gains in February and March turned out to be a bit weaker than previously reported.
The economy in the January-to-March quarter grew at a feeble pace of 1.3 percent, the weakest in four years. It's the most up-to-date figure on gross domestic product, the best barometer of the country's economic fitness

If illegals are a $200-$400 billion dollar drain on our economy each year, we should deport them now! We'd probably end up with a large surplus without those leeches around, and we could use that money to payoff the deficit!

I keep hearing this phrase, and i wonder, what does it mean? Has it become a synonym for "support my agenda"? Bush says it means passing the legislation he wants, Nancy says it's supporting her interpretation of the mandate the people gave her. Is it just more manipulation at the expense of our soldiers?

about fighting a war on terror?

Israel has been fighting the war on terror for over 30 years & counting? It NEVER ends, UNLESS you either leave the middle east or you CONTAIN the terrorists as best as you can w/ combination of good intelligence & Special forces. Since the US can't put a fence around Iraq & or Baghdad I guess they only have the other option I just mentioned.

I think knowledge must start at home within the family, Don't get me wrong, my parents didn't teach me the in's and outs of politics as a child, But they did teach me self responsibility, and to give respect where respect is due. also when there was a crisis within the family we were given the tools and the knowledge to face it head on, instead of being sheltered from it, as if the problem would go away if it were ignored. So I can truly thank my parents for the ability to stand strong and face the problems of our country. This is not to say, that I am not frightened and sometimes feel the need to run and hide, because I do. But at the end of the day I will not second guess myself,my beliefs, or my Country.......
Thanks Mom & Dad

I keep hearing people say that!.. Isn't it totally clear that a draft is the last thing the Bush administration wants? That would turn the population against them! Now they have an all volunteer force, no dissent, every soldier there at Bush's disposal.. I HOPE there's a draft, it would give us all a reason to take to the streets in record numbers not seen since Vietnam, and THEN we'd see how long he could drag this war on...

Out of contenders for nomination on both sides, would anyone end the war? Or would they simply change strategy and objectives. Who is most likely to bring troops home. I'm thinking Obama, however once in office he may decide to follow recommendations from military advisors.

I'd say don't come here arguing and attacking one another, but there's no fun in that...
