The 'new' struggle for making English the official language across the U.S. with state govts passing an all english requirement and only translating for extreme emergencies in effort to halt the so called reduction in immigrants learning english because we've 'made it too easy to live here without learning english'-is it fair or unfair for the immigrants, if yes to WHICH immigrants don't the people who've been here for years have the advantage of learning english and accepting it- or is it as the university prof. said actually hampering on maintaining the maternal language such as spanish? Will putting more enforcement on english only in the U.S. help the problem in immigration or harm it?

If you were president what type of punishment do you truly think would create a decrease in illegals here and the ones that want to come. Also how would you punish the people that bring them here hiding them in their cars. (I know people did that for a fact and got away with it.) I always thought we should make another checkpoint for those coming out of Mexico into the US at the border and do a MORE complete check of cars and documents. And by the way I think cops should be able to run SSN, and a discription comes up with the social to see if the description matches the person and that way we could stop people with SSN that are not theirs. Just a side note

They Violated American law when the snuck across the border. They snuck across the border because they new they could not enter American legally, That is premeditation, which means they knew what they were doing was against the law, which makes them ALL Criminals. Now do we really want 20 million plus illegal Criminals in America, we already have enough Criminals of our own, with out taking in all of Vicente Fox's Criminals. what did he do open up the Prisons in Mexico & tell them to go illegally enter America.....

Do you ever stop and think why there are so many illegal immigrants here from Mexico? The US Government makes it virtually impossible for most Mexicans to immigrate here legally. They have to demonstrate they have a lot of money in their bank account in order to even be issued a visa. The ones who have that much money don't WANT to move to the USA, Mexico is an awesome place. The majority who come here illegaly for the most part come out of desperation. They just want what is best for their families, as I'm sure you do.
I'm not saying all of them are good, and I'd never suggest an open border policy, that's just asking for trouble. But why not more tolerance less hate? Why don't we try to make it easier for hard working Mexicans to come here legally? Why don't we help Mexico more so that so many of their citizens DON'T want to come here?
Many Americans supported going to WAR in Iraq and spending billions to "free the Iraqi people"...whats wrong with helping your fellow man here?

Would you like us Mexicans more if we were all doctors? Then we could provide our own medical care and you wouldn't have to complain about us using your free healthcare. I'm going to go to med school here in Mexico. I should have my degree in 6 months.

as a result of the Southern Border being wide open, has he also made it easy as pie for terrorist's to come here & kill Americans ? Every year, since we invaded Iraq we Txpayers donate over 90 Billion dollars to the Iraq war, which is a huge waste. Would you American Taxpayers be OK with spending 45 Billion dollars to seal up the Mexican border air tight.?

Or how someone can determine I am a dirty s l u t? this is silly.....Its laughable.....While its true I support amnesty, I am for restricted amnesty.......That is no amnesty for those on welfare or with a felony.....While we may not agree on the issue, don't accuse me of being reversed racist, when you have absolutely no proof of me being this.....If you can't have a debate and refer to personal attacks with no proof, please just do us a favor and shut up....

U.S. police arrested an 83-year-old woman on suspicion of entering California from Mexico with 10 pounds (4.5 kg) of methamphetamine strapped to her body, officials said on Thursday.

The woman, who is a U.S. citizen, and two Mexican nationals were arrested in San Ysidro, California, on Monday as they drove north from Tijuana, Mexico.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Angelica De Cima said officers at a U.S. border crossing stopped their car and found the drugs strapped to the body of the retiree and a 40-year-old Mexican woman.

Both women were passengers in the vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Mexican man.

"It's very unusual for us to arrest such an elderly smuggler, but it's not unique," De Cima told Reuters by telephone. "We are catching more drugs at the port and so the Mexican cartels are using more creative techniques to try and get away with it."

San Ysidro, located a few miles (km) south of San Diego, is a key transit point used by Mexican drug cartels to smuggle cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine to U.S. markets.

Methamphetamine, a synthetic stimulant, is prepared in so-called "super labs" in Tijuana and shipped north to market in California, where the chemicals used to make it are more strictly controlled.

De Cima said seizures of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin had jumped by at least 25 percent at the San Ysidro crossing in the last 12 months.

I am asking this question because I see many people here saying how much are concerned about illegal immigrants I even see one of these monkeys saying he throws rocks when he sow them cleaning windows, how did he know their legal status just by looking at them, SO PLEASE DO NOT ACT OFFENDED WHEN SOMEBODY CALLS YOU RACIST.

Who would be willing (if put to a vote) to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, but only to the illegal immigrants that fit this criteria: Have never received any type of welfare (excluding EMERGENCY health care), and have worked since their arrival and have never broken any other law.

They would be fined for breaking the law (by entering illegally), have to pay any unpaid taxes then would be granted amnesty and legal status.

Everyone not fitting this description would be shipped back to their country of origin.

Who would vote for this?

Nobody complains about Indian and Chinese immigrants because:
1) They are hard working and intelligent
2) They are mostly law abiding
3) They come here, mostly, legally
4) They are a net benefit to American society

Mexicans fall back on the 'hardworking' cliche, but so are dairy cows and sheepdogs. Hardworking without brains or skill is useless. It's not the fact that they are Mexican, it's the fact that they are unskilled and are a tax on society (prisons, hospitals, schools). The mexicans overcrowd the hospitals where they are cared for ny indian and Chinese doctors.
Who would you rather have?

Some americans (mostly latin america) stick up or say what they believe in the case of ilegal people. White, even black people have voiced concerns over this issue as a blue star worker can hardly get a job anymore. There hardly the apple pickers anymore or the florda orange pickers anymore? Nobody seems to want to give lee way meaning come to grips with a common ground and pursue a happy america and happy immigrants even myself i admit totaly, but lets say we put it aside a minute how can our nations come to a better common ground? Meaning a better way to do this because this way isnt working and just letting who ever come in isnt going to work either. Provide a hint of rules or regulations that you would set up to inure that both parties are some what happy even if there not fully happy with it.

Let's call it what it is, so don't give me this b.s that they are taking your jobs and not paying taxes, the fact is that they came here and prosper faster than you and you can't take it, if they all go home you will still be a loser.

If we built a wall or did something.. Then only allow a little amount of people in each year and only took in skilled workers?

Canada has a skilled worker thing where its almost hard to get in unless you have education. Yes we can go there just to visit, but im talking about letting good people come in you know people who educate themselves not peasents. I think this would solve the problem as i have never seen somebody from mexico who was educated before hop skiping the border. What do you think? Wanda you have the same excuses and no real back up i rather not even hear your rant so you can excuse yourself for the good of us all.
