Immigration - August 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

You just end up with a bunch of ignorant unhealthy illegal immigrants. If the feds can't keep them out, let's at least keep them healthy and out of trouble, and let justice figure out how to use our tax dollars for nation protecting at home, instead of nation building overseas. As it stands, we're out making more enemies, and we still aren't guarding the back door. Dum dum dum.

of their new "home?" With faxes, computers, cell phones, international next day shipping, etc., etc. all allowing simple communication with friends and family back in their original country is there now any reason to "assimilate" into American culture like immigrants traditionally did? Does all this technology make it very simple and comfortable for modern immigrants to isolate themselves from American society and maintain connections with their traditional heritage, whereas immigrants from previous generations were totally disconnected from their homelands and had little choice but to join mainstream American society to survive and prosper? Just throwing out a theory and wondering what people think.

First, I am not saying 'all Mexicans' are like this. I am saying border towns on both sides are particularly unsafe in part because bad guys can dash across the border. This guy was arrested for personal participation in 10 -15 murders on this side of the border, and is potentially linked to a gang that commited 300 rape/murders in Mexico and here.

I think we need secure borders and protection of people on BOTH sides of the border.
