why only now? is this a tactic that republicans use to convert democrats into their right wing beliefs?
some people who were democrats say that because of the whole illegal immigrant thing they will convert to republican.

like the whole terrorist attacks, its sort of like the republicans
saying "never fear, republicans are here!"

what do you think? im neither dem or rep but i have spent most of my life knowign that most of the time, i would also do the same if i was in the same situation ..

i know some of you would say "naah if i were in the same situation i wouldnt break the law" yeah right. cockroaches are only romantic in romance novels.

no bashing and such, just a response from your heart.

illegal immigrants

Proposals would affect landlords, employers; some say rules would draw lawsuits

12:00 AM CDT on Monday, August 21, 2006

By STEPHANIE SANDOVAL / The Dallas Morning News

FARMERS BRANCH – Illegal immigrants are responsible for much of what's wrong with Farmers Branch, says City Council member Tim O'Hare.

So he proposes making it harder for illegal immigrants to live and work in the city.

Today, the City Council will discuss possible ways to do that, including prohibiting landlords from leasing to illegal immigrants, penalizing businesses that employ them, making English the city's official language and ceasing publication of any documents in Spanish, and eliminating subsidies for illegal immigrants in the city's youth programs.

Some Hispanic advocates say doing so would brand Farmers Branch as a racist community and embroil the city in protests and lawsuits.

"The reason I got on the City Council was because I saw our property values declining or increasing at a level that was below the rate of inflation," Mr. O'Hare said. "When that happens, people move out of our neighborhoods, and what I would call less desirable people move into the neighborhoods, people who don't value education, people who don't value taking care of their properties."

He also said local schools have dropped in recent years in state rankings, and retail operations cater to low-income and Spanish-speaking customers, leaving "no place for people with a good income to shop."

"Illegal immigrants are a large cause of it," he said.

So he wants to see the council adopt provisions similar to those adopted by Hazelton, Pa., in July and since then adopted or under consideration by other cities in Pennsylvania, California and Florida.

The 2000 census showed that 25.2 percent of the population of Farmers Branch was foreign-born. The census did not report how many were illegal immigrants.

I mean the situation in Mexico is horrible... 300 years of Spanish influence that raped the economy... filth everywhere... lack of education and other debilitating economic factors... If We legalize immigration there will be a flood of people.... Kiss Social Security good-bye [we might end up having to do that anyway because of the immense strain that all those white people place on our governmental aid programs]... Raising minimum wage and Chicago's controversial 'Big Box' ordinance and their ilk... will never be issues again... Why...? Because there will be so many people here who be willing to work for sub 'cost of living wages' that it will be pathetic....

YUMA (AP) - About a dozen vehicles used to smuggle humans sit in a quiet and dusty row, at first glance blending in with the hundreds of cars and trucks with more innocent pasts that fill the scrap yard of Dick's 25-Hour Towing.
A visitor to the yard just walking by could easily never notice that these automobiles are different.
For example, the rear seats are gone and unnecessary interior side panels have been crudely ripped out.

All of this done with two goals in mind: To avoid detection and maximize the ability to haul more of their living, human goods.

"Basically it's all the same. There's really nothing to it," said Mark Schlamann, a tow truck driver for Rautenberg. "They pretty much just take the seats out and pack them in."

Dick Rautenberg, owner of Dick's 25-Hour Towing, is one of the few Yuma residents who sees firsthand what's left behind when smugglers fail to make good on their promise to deliver the chance for new lives.

"Imagine stacking 20-some railroad ties into a vehicle," he said.

Comparing people to cargo becomes almost impossible to avoid when describing how vehicles are packed with people in the business of smuggling humans across the U.S.-Mexico border.

"People are just laying on top of each other," Rautenberg said. "We've seen a pickup and camper shell with 21 guys piled in the back. It's just really terrible."

The smuggling vehicles seen at Dick's are almost always the products of theft - most often from San Diego - with the most common license plates being from California and Nevada, according to Rautenberg. After a set period of time has passed, the towing company files with the state to legally own the vehicles, most often using them for salvage. Only rarely do lending institutions come calling, Rautenberg said, and even less often does he hear from the original owners.

The vehicles that come to Rautenberg's scrap yard, and others around Yuma, are the ones used in smuggling cases that were damaged before or during their apprehension by the U.S. Border Patrol.

But the most recent smuggling vehicle towed by Dick's was nowhere to be seen.

That vehicle was the white Suburban involved in the deadly accident that claimed 10 lives and injured 11 more people Aug. 7. In cases like that, where a criminal investigation promises to be sizable, the automobiles are instead sent to be impounded by the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.

Schlamann said he's seen many dented and beat-up vehicles in his 13 years with Dick's. But he said the Suburban that came to a deadly halt 30 miles outside of Yuma was the worst.

"There's no comparison," Schlamann said. "Normally, they don't roll over like that. You don't hardly ever see it like that."

Schlamann was grateful not to have all the facts - or haunting visuals - on that day when he was called to the gruesome accident scene.

Richard Hays, a spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol's Yuma sector, stressed that smugglers simply don't care at all about the safety of the people who have paid them for a trip across the border.

Hays pointed out that no special consideration is given to pregnant women, children or elderly people.

Calls to pick up vehicles left behind by arrested smugglers are shared by towing companies throughout Yuma. Dick's is certainly one of the companies that's been at it the longest.

But what's more interesting is just how often the phone at Dick's has been ringing lately.

"We haven't had many here this last two months or so. There's maybe been five of six," Schlamann said. "Before that we were getting two or three a week."

Both Schlamann and Rautenberg credited the government's recent increases in border security

True summary of illegal activity from long term illegals

Here is a true summary of illegal activity from long term illegals, and as you can see it's not just about sneaking across the border, and it's not just careless breaking of the law, it's carefully planned to cheat Americans.

1. Illegal entry into the United States - Misdemeanor - deportable offense.
2. Failure to register as a foreign national - misdemeanor - deportable offense.
3. Fraudulently applying for a state driver's license with counterfeit ID - misdemeanor
4. Applying for work or working in the United States without a work visa - Misdemeanor - Deportable Offense.
5. Fraudulently operating an unregistered business under a false name - misdemeanor - Deportable Offense
6. Fraudulently applying for and accepting welfare using counterfeit ID - Felony - Jail Time- Deportation
7. Fraudulently applying for and accepting food stamps using counterfeit ID - Felony - Jail Time - Deportation
8. Fraudulently applying for and accepting mother's assistance using counterfeit ID - Felony - Jail Time - Deportation.
9. Fraudulently applying for work using counterfeit or stolen Social Security Number - Felony (Perjury)- Deportation
10. Fraudulently claiming excessive deductions for Federal Income Taxes to avoid paying any taxes - Felony - Jail Time - Deportation
11. Registering to vote in states with Motor Voter programs and voting without being a US Citizen - Felony (Perjury)- Deportation
12. Buying counterfeit auto license tabs instead of paying the sate - Misdemeanor
13. Buying phony auto insurance from Mexican operatives so automobile with counterfeit tabs can be registered - Misdemeanor
14. Claiming poverty in a household with high income (for you less than informed - illegal households can easily make as much $100,000 a year tax free) so children can apply for free lunches at school - misdemeanor
15. Claiming poverty to get free medical care from free clinics - Felony - Fraud (hundreds in LA alone) and using first class hospital emergency rooms as family doctors for non-emergency medical - ALL ILLEGALS HAVE 100% MEDICAL COVERAGE AT NO COST TO THEM - PERIOD - Misdemeanor - Deportation.
16. Traffic citations and accidents - Illegals have no real name or address - if they are get a citation or are involved in an accident - they just disappear and surface again with a new counterfeit license and address- and good luck with your insurance company - misdemeanor - Deportation
Etc, Etc, Etc,

The word "racist" has so many definitions that no-one should use it unless they define it. Otherwise the answers to the question "is something racist" are just circular.
When are people going to wake upand realise it's just a buzz word with no fixed meaning, so you cannot logically discuss if something is "racist?"?

As far as keeping out illegal immigrants. If the government was serious about this, couldn't they just fine or otherwise punish companies that hire illegals to deter the activity?
