if you are talking about for residency or work permit... not long unless they have a problem with them or processing something else with them at the same time....
for my work-permit/residency, I did them the same day in order to get them over with..... I got notice within days that my work-permit would be mailed, so i guess i passed the check.... if they did not check me then.... withing a couple months or so i got notice of my residency appointment.... so either way it was not long

as long as they want... my husband sent his in over a month ago and still no word. And yes it is for immigration paperwork
