The word "racist" has so many definitions that no-one should use it unless they define it. Otherwise the answers to the question "is something racist" are just circular.
When are people going to wake upand realise it's just a buzz word with no fixed meaning, so you cannot logically discuss if something is "racist?"?

Agreed and disagreed. It has one soild defination that most define it by and we all know what that is so lets not be shy or play stupid. To be honest the whole world and everyone in it can be defined as being a racist at some time or another.

Racist- A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others

Another way to look at it is a strong disdain or hatred towards another based on beliefs, religion, financial status, sexual preference and skin color.

Bold way of looking at it but here is a example. How many of you dislike Goths, Pagans, Gays, Lesbians, Politicans, Christians...add what you will from this point but we all have or have had be it a fleeting moment in your hearts and time a strong disdain for one of these things and many others I care not to mention.
I live in the South date out of my race so trust me I have seen racism and I want people to understand the difference between being racist and having perference. I have seen it alot on here especially in the dating forum .
People want to yell RACIST when someone says I don't date blacks or I don't date out of my race cause I do not like to...that is not a racist that is just a person's choice so who are you to judge them for what they like or do not like?
Now if that person says I don't date black people cause they are ignorant and dumb and as Dave Chapelle so colorfully put it THEY STINK!!! Then I say to you call it as you see it cause that is a racist.
Yes, it has meanings that are multifacted to say the least, but it is often people that honestly do not know what it is that make it seem like it has no true meaning. See my example above how can you cry racist when someone is only making a choice they feel comfortable with.
I date black girls but often i do not cause I often find I have more problems with them than I do others, does that make me racist or just a person that knows what I like and does not wish to have conflict?
It is how something is phrased that determines what is racist these days. I can say I dislike gays cause it is not The G-Man's will as written in the Big Book Of Holy Stories (I am not religious by any means nor do I honestly care what gay people do or do not do) that would be my prefence based on my beliefs its not saying they are inferior to me cause I am a Christian and I am better then they are cause they are sinners its saying I do not agree with it based on my beliefs.
If i say i hate gays cause they are a popular degrading F-Word term used to define them which I will not use here then yes that would be racist.

So, the question I leave you with is this.

Is it the word that makes a certain thing or person racist or the person yelling that something is racist when it may not always be the case?

The word that should be eliminated is "reverse-discrimination"!! It is usually applied to a Caucasian that is being discriminated against by someone who is a minority. Discrimination is discrimination, there is no forward or reverse! Racism does exist and it is definable, but it was not invented by the whites nor are they the only race that has racists! Why can't you logically discuss it? I have conversations about it all the time. It depends on WHO you have the conversation with and HOW they respond, whether you can discuss it logically!

It should be abolished as there is no such thing. Everyone is prejudiced of something wether they admit it or deny it. It is used as a self protection against a tolerant people by non-tolerant people. The same people then use 'human rights' to cover their tracks. Terrorists and murderers have lost their rights to their own human rights. Using the word racist is the same as accusing all people you don't agree with as being hitler. At this point all logical discussion is nul and void. I have seen real racism in asia and the middle east, so for people in this country to call westerners racist, is blatantly laughable.

Every word in every language fits that description.

But most have a core definition that covers most usages, as well as connotations commonly included in the meaning. And that includes the word racist.

A racist is someone who discriminates based on race, ethnicity, ancestry or national origin. The connotation is negative or hurtful discrimination.

That's the starting point, and if you want to clarify edges of the definition, that's great. It keeps the discussion going. But we have to accept that language is fluid and fuzzy, and that words never have concrete unwavering unambiguous meanings.

Aha nicely, a undeniable significant ingredient of speech or writing of letters introduced at the same time, the two left on my own or introduced at the same time in a sentence with many others to hold for the time of a particular theory. In a sentence, areas are between each and each of those lettered communities. how's that?;)

We don't agree what half the words we use mean, exactly.
What word would you want to use? We do have some general idea of what it means, we just might not agree about a specific application.
We would only have to invent another word and then start arguing about that.
Racism exists, we all know it, we need a word for it and we've got one.

It doesn't take a genius to realize when someone is being a racist or bigot.....I think there are far more bigots on this website than racists....

Bigot:

Etymology: French, hypocrite, bigot
: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Saying 'RACIST' is just a convenient stick to beat white people into silence & submission.

And people who say... " I’m not a racist, but...''
Why do they think they have to tell us they aren’t a racist?"
