why only now? is this a tactic that republicans use to convert democrats into their right wing beliefs?
some people who were democrats say that because of the whole illegal immigrant thing they will convert to republican.

like the whole terrorist attacks, its sort of like the republicans
saying "never fear, republicans are here!"

what do you think? im neither dem or rep but i have spent most of my life knowign that most of the time, i would also do the same if i was in the same situation ..

i know some of you would say "naah if i were in the same situation i wouldnt break the law" yeah right. cockroaches are only romantic in romance novels.

no bashing and such, just a response from your heart.

okay, I'll repeat myself. this wasn't much of a concern for the average American until......the illegals we stupid and declared they were here, demanded rights they are not entitled to and pretty much made a scene. they have no one to blame but themselves, they were the ones stupid enough to say 'look at me look at me'

I think mostly illegal immigration is being used as a platform for the upcoming election by the Democrats to prove that George Bush hasn't this country any safer since 9/11. It may be harder for Arabic people to enter the US but not for people from Mexico.

I also think that the media is playing this one up tremendously. Like every year they have a hot-button issue. Like really who cares about Jonbenet Ramsey? When she was murdered 10 years ago my life didn't stop and I knew of other children that age that died tragically but the media vans weren't parked anywhere near their houses. Then the issue a couple summers ago was kidnapping children with another blonde haired female named Elizabeth Smart. There were plenty of other children kidnapped but the networks chose not to cover those.

So in conclusion the two reasons why immigration is a big focus today: election and media. Mix the two and you get a lethal mind-numbing combination.

I was thinking this very thing yesterday. Illegal immigration has always been an issue so why is it just now that it's become a major topic of discussion? Many people who bash illegals insist that were they facing the same circumstances they'd come here...legally. I doubt it. It's difficult to see your family struggling to survive and make ends meet, wondering where and how they'll obtain their next meal. Unfortunately, other countries have a long way to go when it comes to improving their economy, until then, illiegal immigration will continue to happen.

Believe it or not, some of us have known about this issue for years and done what we can about it ... it is just because of the sheer size of the problem and outrageous behavior of some of the illegals that more and more people have taken notice ... and alerted their elected representatives and the media about the problem ...

Our leaders are no means anti illegal aliens ... if they were, they would have sorted out our border problems years ago ... not even 9/11 made them get off their sorry asses and get something done ... to them, business making a quick buck from the illegal underclass they are busy creating is more important than the safety of their citizens ... which is one more reason why the November elections are so important ....

You're right it has always been an issue. It wasn't the Republicans that were staging mass demonstrations. It was the illegals and their liberal, activists allies. On top of that, they had the unmitigated gall to march under foreign flags! It was the liberals and activists, i.e., Democrats, who have made this an election issue. They'll do anything to try and get back into power.

and american's think we're the only ones dealing with illegal immigration. EVERY country deals with immigrants from EVERY country. other countries deal with immigrants from our country. Last week I saw a pic of a tourist in spain helping an african immigrants who had just gotten off the boat. it's a "problem" all over the world. it's not like EVERYONE's trying to get into america. we ain't that special. the main objective is to find a better way of life and leaving their own poverty/war stricken country is the only way to do it.

I think it's just a matter of the world becoming over-populated and resources diminishing.

You are close but the Republicans took up the cause when part of their right wings followers were going to stop them themselves. The right move further right and cals the middle the left.

So true.....Politicians are just using this issue to distract unsuspecting Americans, about the real issue in this country and that is, the problems going on in the middle east.....So many people are really angry about this issue.....WELL done good and faithful Republicans, you have accomplished your mission!

Most middle-class Americans live by "If you can't do the time don't do the crime" but then we are held accountable for our actions unlike the illegals!
