Passing a non-binding resolution on an event that took place 90+ years ago which could potentially destabilize northern Iraq looks like an extremely short-sighted and STUPID move. I can understand her not agreeing with the Bush administration's policies, but deliberately undermining the relationship we have with Turkey hurts this entire country.

One can't force a country to feel badly about what a previous generation did - what's her motive, other than anti-Americanism?

My son was born in the relatively *tiny* Caerphilly Miners Hospital. Lovely little place, small team of midwives. All very local, homely and cosy. Spotlessly clean, good food, great care. Couldn't have asked for better. My son was even delivered by the local community midwife who'd been caring for me from the start of my pregnancy! I even got my own ensuite room!

In a few years I can guarantee it will be closed. The same happened to the Cardiff Royal Infirmary.

Now everyone will be sent to the University Hospital of Wales which is huge, understaffed and quite frankly, grotty. When I inspected the maternity unit there prior to having my baby I was disgusted. It was dirty, the toilets stank, the whole place was shabby and in need of a clean and it was obviously understaffed.

What is the benefit of closing our local hospitals and forcing everyone into these huge leviathan institutions where personal, one to one care and even hygiene is impossible?

Okay, I must start by saying I've always been against universal health care. "Flip Flop" Clinton's plan resembles Canada's and they're considering their system to be in a state of crisis - so I think that'd be setting ourselves up for failure.
Here's my question.
For those who WANT to participate in free healthcare. FINE.
For those who don't - what if we were given a tax credit and the option to seek private health care and continue to purchase health insurance?
That suits me just fine.
I've invested in myself through higher education and can afford the cost associated with my health care. I personally don't like the idea of waiting in lines that resemble the DMV or post office just to see a doctor. We all know everything slows down once the government controls it. I also don't want some moron in the government deciding what's medically necessary for me.
Would a plan like this make everyone happy?

Fans of universal health care, pay attention and read this article:

For those of you that often cite Britain as one of the wonderful, more advanced countries that offer socialized health care to its population, look at the effect it is having on them. Would you call that progress?

My partner is on minimum wage, we have a baby son and I'm not working due to childcare issues.

We really need some help - we are struggling so badly for money (we have £2 left to last the week on!), we need to buy things for the baby and also my partner is desperately trying to find a way to pay for his training expenses so he can hopefully get out of min wage work and into something better paid.

We're not eligible for the limited help the Government offer - its all for single mums and the unemployed. We can't get a Career Development loan as we have a poor credit rating. The ILA is only £100 for someone who is working (even if low paid) and his training costs would be £500.

I feel ashamed to be reduced to this - I am educated but have never found my degree helped me get a job and we are getting desperate.

Which charities might be prepared to help a young couple (not a single mum) who are working and not scrounging but are just not being given a break?

Here is what I already know:

It produced a republic;

People vote on an official that represents you;

When you vote for a president, your vote is practically meaningless, since it is the electoral college that will put the president in.;

Is there anything else that you can think of, more importantly, specific information. I just needs brief outline of things anyone can think of. Thanks
