That a broad political spectrum of this country never was taken into full confidence during negotiations of the deal in question has led to this state of affairs. Left Support to the Govt was never unconditional and CMP has been only the link between the ruling coalition and the left. The govt as well as the party are possibly paying the price for their complacency or their over confidence in convincing their left supports This can never be called bucking under pressure.
Secondly, the question whether it is a national embarrassment does not arise when a broad political spectrum does not favour the deal and the party in power has gone with the deal without a consensus from all who matter.
Though the sovereign right of a Govt to negotiate and conclude a deal can never be questioned, political sagacity required the party in power could have taken into account the political fall out during negotiation stage itself. That it has not done so may not be a national embarrassment, but certainly a lesson to the ruling party in acts of similar nature in future.
Studies by Green Peace have evaluated the cost-benefit analysis of nuclear power. Is it we have no avenue other than going ahead with nuclear energy and if so, whether it should be at the cost of independence of our Nation with regard to our foreign policy..is the underlying question.
Time alone with answer this question.

YES, i feel that it will be a national embarrasment for the country because many people including our prime minister had worked hard to get the deal ready (which is in the national interest of our country) and at the end if there arises a need for rethinking on the deal just because your supporters are not happy with one specific country and its actions , it is surely a disappointment .
The deal would have ended India's isolation from the global nuclear community after a long time and could have paved way for a energy hungry India to meet the expected growth required for several years to come.
It also plays a very important role in developing cleaner and safer form of energy as other methods take much higher environmental toll.
It could have provided India access to key nuclear technologies etc.

Certainly, the 123 deal call-off is a big embarrassment....as in this growing population of India energy crisis is the major crisis what India has to face. Also not neglecting the neighboural status of India with countries like China and Pakistan this deal was utterly necessary. China today possess several nuclear weapons from surface-surface missiles upto ICBM's..India's best missile in this scenario is the Pokhran II missile Agni III which can target only upto Shanghai....USA not only has sufficient checks but also can aid India with these checks against nuclear terror from China and Pakistan. Also India would have the capable support of USA and other allied nations of USA in case of any subcontinental war or emergency....The govt has certainly got itself suppressed under the pressure of Left parties for the majority and prioritising the party issues over the national issues...Nuclear resources are the only ways to meet the energy crisis that India is to face in the mere future...... terrible work from the UPA govt...

ofcourse it will be a national embarrassment.being a science person i can very well understand the many benefits of nuclear power.this call off is a big disappointment.it seems UPA is hell bent on going against the general consensus,1st with the quota issue and now this.the govt. it seems puts its own wellfare b4 the countries.whats the point of having a government run by spineless people, who will do anything just to stay in power, even if it means tainting indias image. the whole world is watching each step india takes, and going back on such a big deal that too with one of the most powerful countries of the world will raise a question on indias committment to the world and on the system of governance in the country.knowing very well the energy crisis the country is facing, the deal would have opened options for a lot of our problems, and i dont think taking help from america means we are accepting slavery.parties that keep 'I' before WE are a big reason why even after 60 yrs of independence we are still a developing nation.

"Never embarrasement for well-developing country like india -but " Most of the people and even some politicians were not clear about these N-deal and 123 agreement. But as a National Interest and Energy Requirements All parties and experts in our country should come Forward and Discuss seriously about Growing Energy requirements of our country without political intention. And Further initiatives and deals regarding to these should be completely agreed by all the parties "

I do feel that it is a big shame for our political system that just because one party who has the problem with the word "America" has made the govt to put the Nuclear Deal in the "Pause Mode".
India is a developing country and its energy needs are enormous. We cannot use conventional energy for a long time due to the scarcity of these resources and the cost factor. Nuclear energy is the future as everybody knows it and all the developed nations are using it to the fullest.
Now only resort India is left to is to build more Dams or tap the un-conventional resources such as Sun and Wind.

First of all, it will be foolish to call off the deal. but at the same time it will not be a big national embarrassment if the deal is put off. The sad part is that 60 odd parliamentarians are stalling the future growth of our country. Its a shame that these so called public representatives are putting the minority government to ransom. It is a lesson for we the people who do not give a decisive verdict while voting. But wait and watch if not today, the day is not far off when the energy requirement will be met from the same source, till then carry on with the existing arrangements.

It will not be a national embarrasement. Every country has its rights to have its own nuclear policy. This policy can depend on the scenario the country is in. If you consider the case of India, we are living with neighbouring countries who always had(have?) attacking mentality. We have seen this very recently during Kargil war. In the wake of this, india should have rights to decide on its nuclear policy.
Eventhough the deal with USA is going to benifit India in developing its Nuclear energy for peaceful usages, the restrictions posed by US on the nuclear tests needs to be negotiated.
I dont feel call-off of the deal is an embarrasement to India.

I do not think that N-deal will be called off.only the process will get slow as the general election are round the corner.Strategically,India and US are coming closer for various reasons.
No country can afford to miss use of Nuclear energy as clean energy.
In democratic country it takes times to build consensus. With the time all the issue will be solved. We are living in a globalised world where interdependence is indispensable.
It is not the Left but the rising price of onion has made Government to go slow on Nuclear Energy.

forget about NATIONAL embaressment, the calling-off of the n-deal will give an enormous blow to the trustworthyness of our country.
No country would want to sign deals with our country because they will think that we would back out.
This would be really i mean REALLY bad for the economy which would in turn affect us.
As you may have seen "a prominent political party" wanted a probe on he 1000 some point drop of the stock market. Dude thats how stock markets work. They are totally unpredictable.
They want to cause nothing but trouble and not let the ruling govt. do some work.
Besides we could use some more electricity.
