In the earier days of this country, senetors, congressman, and representatvives were not paid to do these jobs. They had normal jobs such as farmers, store owners, and other normal jobs of the day. Now, congressmen and congresswomen get paid to do there jobs.

If we took away the payroll, wouldn't the lobbyists leave, and our governments money be alot more abundant?

Also, if people could have a job and then ride to congress on a horse and buggy every so often, wouldn't the technology today make it easy for people to do this better and more effeciently?

Open to both Republicans and Democrats (although im more partial to conservative answers)

If you wanted to see an example of biased journalism, a good place to start would be the Aug. 13 cover story in Newsweek about global warming.

The issue’s cover says “Global Warming Is A Hoax,” but there is an asterisk, which leads to the statement “Or so claim well-funded naysayers who still reject the overwhelming evidence of climate change.”

In other words, Newsweek has an agenda to promote global-warming hysteria, and they don’t feel any need to give equal time to a point of view they disagree with. Indeed Newsweek’s author Sharon Begley denounces global warming skeptics as “deniers,” a term which I think establishes the pseudo-religious quality of the global warming crusade as well as anything.

I know some of your remember that I mentioned how I supported Bush and the war. I made my user name based on that. I am so sad and I regre every day for spporting and trusting Bush. We all got fooled and I am so sorry for ever voting for Bush.

I lost my brother in Iraq over 2 years ago. I hope none of you ever experience what I have gone through. Please I beg you all to save the lives of your loved ones and bring them home. You can support them only when they are alive.

It is so sad and I fal into tears when I think of my brave and proud brother. PLeae do no let your loved ones get seriosly injured or worse. I too spported all of it. Now I regret it and know my brother died in vain for this lie of a war. Please for he love of your family and friends keep them safe before it's too late.

You can't support them when they are gone.

I am so sorry.

The White House Reports says that on 9-11 that President Bush claimed he was watching TV in his limousine when he saw the first plane hit the Twin Towers.

If true, this was an amazing statement, because there is no record of that event being broadcast over TV.

Why should it have been?

There was no reason for a TV camera to be focused on the Twin Towers before the plane crash. How could the President see what didn't exist?

Why do the war mongoring supporters of Bush's illegal war continue to say, "protect the troops" "keep them safe" "give them what they need"?

For 6 years of Bush and a republican congres there was NOT enough body armor! not enough modified Hum Vs! not enough special thins they need to fight and be protected!

Are your memories short are are you just ignorant? or blind of both?

I saw on the news last night how Canada has purchase it's first of 4 cargo planes and how 1.5 billion is commited to purchasing others...and how the government plans to invest a lot more into all 3 forces in future.

I have this horrible feeling in my gut that WW3 is brewing. The middle east is going to pieces. A war is brewing there that is dragging the entire world into this action. Russia thinks while they are distracted lets go stake our claim so we can regain our super power status, China is doing God knows what we are all too stupid to pay them any mind at all, and North Korea, well they are just plain insane, and as for Africa corruption rules but they will slowly die off of starvation...and as for Australia...the sleeping giant lucky them they are a universe onto themselves.

I just think it's all spiralling out of control and I don't know...does anyone have any solutions to any of this!!?!?!?!

I just think we need to be aware of what our own govt is up to and why.

I posted a question entitled, "What's the dumbest t-shirt you've ever owned?".

Two stars and 27 answers...a huge increase over the norm.

I guess there is a reason it is called "Popular Culture", but holy smokes.

Does this reflect a crisis, or success?

Could this be taken to mean that the efforts of a relative few in maintaining our unprecedented wealth and our Constitutional liberties have been successful?

We have had many presidents with various beliefs and faiths, but does their faith (religion) have to do a olot with the way the govern?
