I saw on the news last night how Canada has purchase it's first of 4 cargo planes and how 1.5 billion is commited to purchasing others...and how the government plans to invest a lot more into all 3 forces in future.

I have this horrible feeling in my gut that WW3 is brewing. The middle east is going to pieces. A war is brewing there that is dragging the entire world into this action. Russia thinks while they are distracted lets go stake our claim so we can regain our super power status, China is doing God knows what we are all too stupid to pay them any mind at all, and North Korea, well they are just plain insane, and as for Africa corruption rules but they will slowly die off of starvation...and as for Australia...the sleeping giant lucky them they are a universe onto themselves.

I just think it's all spiralling out of control and I don't know...does anyone have any solutions to any of this!!?!?!?!

I just think we need to be aware of what our own govt is up to and why.

Sadly you are right in that we let our military go...BUT ISNT THAT A GOOD THING? It means they weren't NEEDED.

Somehow, the fact we are arming up, even though it's primarily to help others (although I wonder about that) makes my alarm bells go off, and suddenly it's just not the same old world anymore.

If we are doing it for defensive motives then I would say bravo to our government for having the FORESIGHT...still I wonder....

Canada must "beef" up the three branches of the military, especially the Navy, since their territorial sovereignty has been directly and arrogantly challenge by the Oligarchy of Russia and their corrupted leaders.

Russia is just trying to recreate the atmosphere of the cold war strictly for economical reasons and not for ideological ones.
First, it's good for the arms industries which was the pride of the Kremlin and a good economical asset.
Secondly, it creates a sense of pride to the people of Russia, have a common enemy, real or not, unite the peoples behind...Putin of course!
So, if i were you i would worry about Russia, actually they are one of the biggest ally of the west in the war against radical islamist.

Yes, the Middle East is going to pieces, nothing unusual there.

China is too corrupted, too centralized and lack direct and proper channels between the top of the chain to the bottom. For all those reasons, china will not be able to organized major move of is mighty army by sea mind you! Unless they go by land but then they will face India or Russia, both nuclear nation.
But China will still be a big player in this world full of unexplored source of energy, like Africa.

North Korea and Kim Jong-IL, I believe, is more a threat to his own people then it is to us.

For the solution:
The world will keep turning day after day. We need to defend our interest one day at the time. Take one threat one after the other and never give up! You need to look more precisly to each problems we face, and don't let the big picture overwhelm you.

"Calmness is the cradle of power."

Have a good day!

Cathay! I have taken Air Canada to England several times and Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong. Definitely Cathay. They will give you snacks the whole time if you just ask. Like cup-o-noodles and sandwiches in addition to the meals. They also have tv screens on the backs of all the seats which is nice. The attendents are really nice and helpful. Don't hesitate to ask for stuff. Drinks are all free on both airlines for international flights but you have to ask. They don't always offer the things up. Air Canada is ok but I really liked Cathay. Have a good trip!

Eve, I don't think that is the case for some I reason I have had the same feeling everysince the Americans went to Iraq and 9/11 happened. This world has been in chaos since WW2 actually nothing ever seem to go towards peace. We have to think positive and hope for the best. I don't know the solutions but perhaps lets hope our Goverment know what they are doing.

How large a build up? Canada has had a small military relatively speaking for a long time.

I'm not sure Canadians realize this, but since Harper has been elected, the nice Canadian image is in a way gone away. Canada under Harper reminds us of USA.

Why did you change Canada, you were the best country and example in the world.

Perhaps Harpers American handlers told him to purchase these items.

I really doubt WW3 is coming, I think they are trying to protect themselves from us. The U.S. is a rouge country allowing millions of illegals to flood in. They have to protect themselves from what is coming their way.
