Actually not that many people have left the Bush administration.

Especially compared to the last administration.

Bush has had two chief of staffs, Clinton had four.
Bush had two sec of states, clinton had three.
Bush had two sec of defense, clinton had four.
Bush has had one political policy adviser, clinton had five.

How easily people seem to forget.

I'm not sure it's a record, but it is usually about that time of the 8 year term where those who want to move on typically do. I disagree about the judges comment that preceded my comment, there was some motivation there. There is too much "circumstantial" eveidence that points to a conspiracy.
With Rove's resignation, it is about avoiding any more distractions and causing any more trouble for the republicans as they attempt to retain the White House in 08. I think the one resignation that no one really questioned was that of Colin Powell. There was something about that which made me think he felt the war in Iraq was not justified, nor did he think it was going to be a smooth victory. Michael "Brownie" Brown was just getting rid of an unqualified guy as a scape goat for a botched situation with Katrina.

Subordinates of the President are already against his policy decisions and they cannot take it anymore. The solution is to resign from their position.

These things happen...

It seems significant, but it is not at all unprecedented.

Fairly typical strategy will be for his opponents to act as though resignations are unique to the Bush presidency, just as they acted as though the firing of judges or pardons are something to get excited over.

Because they don't want to go down with the ship, so to speak.
And yes, they all move on to other jobs eventually, but not a year and a half in advance!
